Need update from OP. I have the same situation. Platinum on MBN. With 12K on now, it burns a gallon of oil for every 1200 miles and 198 gallons of diesel. The ###*head shop manager said I needed 12k more miles on the truck before he would submit it to Cat for approval to fix it. I paid $21,000.00 to get screwed like this at Fabco Eau Claire WI.

Yup! I'd like to know what was found as well.
Cheers, -
There is absolutly no break in period for an engine it is made to work immediately after it leaves the shop, I recomend changing the oil filter after 8 hours or 1 day of work. and the oil completely after about 10 days just to get the initial wear metals out, and it needs a full valve set done after about 20,000 miles.
If it is using oil there is a problem.
Just a thought! -

Well here is the update. Took it to Wagner Cat in Hobbs NM. After $1300.00 and my driver sitting in a motel room for 2 days. They went thru the computer and found no codes. I told them they wouldn't find any. So they contacted cats Technical communicator (TC). They said change the oil and go by what there SIS says to do for filling it to proper level. I asked them your tech doesn't know how much a C15 takes. Anyways they did that then calibrated the dipstick. They claim the dipstick was off by 2 gals. The dipstick was in the truck when i bought it. They claim my driver was putting to much oil in by the current dipstick. So they corrected the dipstick. Also said by having 2 gals of oil in it will cause it to get poor fuel mileage. They said this causes high crank case gases in the engine and it tells the ecm this and that is why the fuel mileage is 3.5 mpg. They gave my driver a log to keep for 30 days to see how much oil it uses before they can go into it. I think its a bunch of crap. But what can I do?
ModZZilla Thanks this. -
I bought a truck with a 290 Cummins in it once that was calibrated to over 52 quarts in the pan. Ran like crap and got crappy mileage. My pickup all factory is calibrated for too much oil. If I fill it up to full it will use it down to a certain level and stay there.

Im asking this because I don't know, but how do you calibrate a dip stick?
