Many people that post on here buy trucks in that price range from Schneider. Probably look at their website to find their used truck centers. I know they have used truck lots in Chicago and Atlanta, but don't know where the others are.

Knowing what are you planning on hauling & where helps to point you in a good direction

If you buy a $20K truck, you better know what you're looking at. If it were me, since I know a little more than I wish I did about CAT motors but also have a preference towards Peterbilt, I'd look for an '06 pete 387 with a 450 cummins. You can find them with 800K for around $19K-$22K.
But like the poster above, what you plan on hauling will make the biggest impact on your decision when buying a used, high mileage truck.
Off topic, but I have a real love-hate relationship with the 379's w/ C15 CAT's w/18 spds. Saw one driver get in and tear it up starting at 500K, another who understood the truck is still going on w/o any major work past 1,000,000 miles.
If MPG is a big concern, which it should be, rule out getting anything that looks really good running down the road with straight lines and long square noses.chalupa Thanks this.
