?? coil tarp ???

You want coil shroud (bag) or a flat tarp?

I carry 1 large and 2 medium coil bags.

Might be cheaper to buy a 18' x18' minimum (?? Just guessing??) or longer length 18x24.
Or best bet is just a 4' drop steel tarp 16x26 with double rows of D-rings. That's what I always used before I bought my bags.

 

Well, in my opinion, even though I don't do coils hardly anymore, if you do about a 50/50 mix of single coil and multi coil loads and want to cover them with one tarp I'd look at these combinations:

1. Keep one large coil bag + a 4 ft drop w/ flap 24 ft long regular tarp
2. Forget the coil bag and just roll up what slack you have using the 4 ft tarp for everything
3. Save a little each week, all the while watching Ebay, Craigs List and other classified/auction type sites for a used side kit or just break down and get ya a new one

A tarp is like a chain, it's almost NEVER the right size, so if you wanna cover all your coils with one tarp, you're gonna have some slack to roll up sometimes, but if you're hauling the amount of coils that you must be, then it sounds like you're needing a side kit or Conestoga anyway. I'd work towards that direction, the workload will be a lot less as will your securing/tarping times. I know exactly what you're going through, I'm older now so I pick/choose no tarp loads but when I have to I will. But I only carry one set of tarps, a 3 pc 8 ft drop with flaps on each end. When I get palletized bags can you imagine the wad of tarp I have rolled up on the sides ? HAHAHA!! But that one set can cover anything. The center tarp has D rings running both directions so that's a coil tarp but I rarely haul 'em any more because my current stepdeck doesn't have the coil package under it.

Hope this helps but you need a side kit or Conestoga REALLY, if you're running that much metal.

 

get a 16x24 and be done with it
