My husband is currently in trucking school, and will be graduating next month w/ his CDL Class A license. He'sapplied to a few places, so far he's gotten pre-hires from Covenant & Swift. He will also be applying for Schneider & McElroy. We would love something that may offer him as much home time as possible, which we are aware will likely be difficult as a newbie driver.
If not Schneider, can anyone advise of companies that may hire newbies as local, regional, or intermodal drivers in the Charlotte/Concord, NC area?
Can anyone give any suggestions or advice based on your own experience w/ Schneider as a regional driver or how much hometime you may currently get?
Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Don't waste to much time looking for the perfect job to start. Six months OTR goes by fast after that finding local work should be easy.

Just a word to the wise, OP;
Pretty hard to find a local driving job straight out of the gate. Without valid driving experience in a CMV it makes it awfully hard to get you insured.
However, sometimes you can be lucky enough to find a small employer willing to take you on regardless of the increase on insurance premiums.Truckerswifey404 Thanks this. -

local work prob can do cocal cola, 7up trucks. sometimes it also depends on where you live. i dont know how nc is with locals. but hometime you can prob try out knight transportation and roehl. they usually have good hometime programs. then after 1 yr he can go ups, fedex. or if he can go to Schneider like he wants. maybe he can get local intermodal. they always busy.
