I know someone who works for a Haliburton frac crew, he said they actually "work" maybe half of the time they're paid for, the rest is doing paperwork, napping in the truck, napping on the shuttle rides, etc. People take shots at Haliburton for supposedly "low" pay, not realizing the enormous amount of hours their workers get factored in, PLUS free food and lodging.
$15/hour is NOT REALLY $15/hour, when you add in the overtime after 40, free everything, etc.
With that said, when they ARE working, it's difficult, hard, and dangerous work which is why there is tons of turnover. -
But every frac company gets those hrs. I get 100-130 hrs in a full week and I make five dollars an hour more than Halliburton hands plus 35 per diem everyday. Halliburton under pays their employees and there's no doubt about it. I know ex Halliburton hands who made 60000 a year to frac which is insane. There's no way I would do this job for less than 85000 a year.

Do you work for one of the majors? -
I'd put on that Red jumper in a New York minute if offered. If nothing else its a great company and you are in a somewhat safer work environment than with some other companies. I just finished my CDL school on Friday and I've already applied at Haliburton and all the other major players out there that I could find. I've also sent responses to over 30 craigslist ads. Right now I'll probably jump on the first wagon that comes my way. The ole bank acct is getting low. Biggest issue I keep coming across is the experience needed. I'm getting old and don't have the time to hire up with some otr company then leave 18 months later to get the job I want and then that they want more experience. I wish you all good luck in either your job searches or your continued employment.
tacomaruss Thanks this. -
I worked floors all the way up to derricks before. Got a few years under me driving. Any trucking companies hiring a 14/7 split? Got kids, a wife, and my dads place to take care of. He's an independent cunsultant in the eagle ford.
