Yeah.... I'm a lucky guy
OK, so here is the recap from the week. Yeah, it's only Thursday, but due to the weather and the fact that so many places are closed due to the weather, I was given an early weekend (which I am ok with). So I left out Sunday, made a delivery Monday morning near Allentown, PA, shot down the road 27 miles for my backhaul. and headed for NC. As soon as I got to NC, I unloaded, dropped the trailer at the yard, snatched a preloaded trailer, delivered it the next morning in Landover, MD, reloaded in Rockville, MD, and headed back for NC (and this all happened by Wednesday)(had to shut down in VA last night because 85 was very slippery, and we had to run 25 mph from Petersburg all the way down to the Love's in South Hill). Could have done another turn too had it not been for the weather.
So the long and the short of it is that I am quite happy so far. Good runs and great communication. PLus, they treat their drivers like people.
And I'm ok with that

You too buddy!

Had a great weekend and getting ready to head out tomorrow.
Talked to dispatch on Friday and looks like I am going to be taking a load out to Delaware, OH for a Tuesday morning delivery. Not sure when the load is going to be ready. From what I understand, it's going to be preloaded on a trailer in Fayetteville, and in the past, loads coming out of there are fairly light. No complaints here.
Really tickled with JLR -
what is their rate of pay and how long is their oriention.
-
Their orientation is actually only one day. Then they send you out with a local driver for two days. During the ride along, you are paid an hourly rate. As far as pay goes, like anywhere else, it could vary based on experience. Best bet on that would be to call and ask. Call Rich at extension 222
-
OK, so I have a few weeks under my belt, and I am really getting to like it here.
They are keeping me running and they are SO EASY to work with. Justin is my primary dispatcher, and he "gets me". Awesome quality for a dispatcher. And you don't get the typical "uh.... um.... er.... I dunno. I'll call you back in a couple hours" and then you never get that call. He ALWAYS calls back when he says he will.... and generally, he already has a plan for you, so there is no need for a call back. And Sherry, Tammy, Michelle, and Patrice (in dispatch) are equally incredible. You call, they sound happy to hear from you, they are personable, they get your answer, or solve your problem.... right then and there. What a team!
And although I have not had the honor of meeting everyone there yet, it is obvious that they hire a certain kind of person. Everybody TALKS to you. Go figure! Linda, Jeri, and Rich in Safety are equally great to work with. My experience has always been that the people in Safety are approachable, but they are all about business and rarely do they smile. Not here. All three of them are friendly and actually LISTEN to you when you talk.
I have had the opportunity to talk to Gary, the General Manager, and Richard, the owner, and they are just as friendly and personable as everyone else. I realize that it is a relatively small company, but they knew who I was literally from Day One, and will spark up a conversation with you in a heartbeat. Another thing that I have noticed is that they always ask you how you are doing. It may not mean much, but it is nice to be recognized by the higher echelon.
Long and the short of it is, yes, they are a trucking company.... and they do have their hiccups, just like every other company out there, but if you live in or around Greensboro, and you are looking for a great trucking job, look into JL Rothrock. They may not be right for everyone, but they sure seem to be a great fit for me!!popcorn169 and runningman0661 Thank this. -
Glad you are happy so far and I hope it continues. Was wondering where you have been haven't seen a post from you in a while. Hope you have a safe great day.

Does she have a sister!?!?
Hope we cross paths someday, my trainee met you and said you were a real good guy! If you see a green blur in the Northeast with 1408 on the side call out to me or walk over if were in the same place! Looking forward to it! Safe travels and great adventures to you! -
