From Day One - Abilene Motor Express (Richmond, Wytheville, VA)

I got an interview on Thursday with Kevin or Keith off on the Wytheville yard. I hope it goes well

 

Will Abilene hire a driver out of Virginia Beach? Do they let you bring the truck home? I'm moving back there and I'm finding it hard to find anyone but the big companies that want to hire out of that area.

 

Yes. They should hire out of there. As for taking the truck home, probably. We load out of a few places locally.

 

Arrived in Richmond was picked up from the airport and taken to lunch and was asked there was anything I need. I said if there was time I would like to run to Walmart to pick up a few items that were to big to put in a suit case like blanket and two pillows and some other items. There was someone here within a hour at the hotel to run me there. I will say I've more than impressed so far. Orientation starts tomorrow. Thanks Abilene for such a warm welcome.

I start oreintation on the 24th. I'm looking forward to it

 

Day one one of orientation done and road test done. I was in orentation by myself which made things go a lot faster. Plus I did physical, drug test and agility test before I arrived. I should be getting my truck assigned tomorrow. Hoping for a 780 but was told if I didn't get one now I would when an open one becomes available. So whatever I get tomorrow ill make work until I get the 780 I want.

 

Scooterdawg hope you don't mind if I continue your blog that you started and was very helpful to me and many others. I wish you luck on your new gig sounds like you found a really good gig. Again thanks for all the info you and JB post.
