Thanks Ironpony, I appreciate it man. Im pretty pumped to start a new career. Finally put the chainsaw down for good! I have alot of experience running heavy equipment (skidder, Dozer, tractor, log truck, and dump) but only a couple months of tuggin around a 53 foot trailer. I am looking forward to getting some experience in otr truckin. Does Prime run flatbeds in the northeast?

Pittston does have simulators. They got 2 of 'em 2ish years ago. Not sure how many they have now. They're tucked away in one of the rooms between dispatch and the leasing office.

My husband is leaving for orientation in a couple weeks. His recruiter is not very helpful and he already had to push it back once because his recruiter never told him he would be leaving OTR straight out of orientation. Very frusterating for both of us. Im not sure why everything has to be a mystery. Can you please give us some idea for a packing list? We have no idea how long he will be out, what will happen, anything.
Very frusterated this afternoon over this.

Im starting on march 4th and they told me to bring my birth certificate, ss card, voided check for direct deposit, 3 emergency contact numbers, 2 personal references name and numbers, enough clothes for at least 2 weeks out ( both warm and cold weather), I would bring a little more just to be safe, and some bedding, either a sleeping bag or bed roll and a pillow. I will also be bringing personal items such as toothbrush, soap and deodorant. Im sure I will learn other stuff thats handy to have as I go along but for now now thats all I can think of for items they told me to bring. Also they told me to bring the name, birthdate and ss number of anyone I plan on putting on my insurance. I hope that helps you a little bit.

99% of what we do is drive, so it's logical that they'd get the trainees out on the road to drive.
again you are asking about things that are very easily found around here if you do some reading and use the search function. A suggested packing list has been discussed ad nauseum.
prime's training program isn't complicated, your husband graduated from another school so he will be a trainee. He will have to run at least 40k team miles. Running those kind of miles on regional runs would take months and months and train him to operate in an regional area. OTR is the only way we train our trainees.
Im sorry but running the NE is not the same as running out West. Even if your husband is regional he could get sent anywhere in the country. because Prime's home time policy is at least three weeks out, he could have plenty of time to pickup in the NE and go anywhere and comeback in less than three weeks.
again read, search... You clearly did not do enough research before you signed up with Prime, cuz all that stuff is basic and it's all here. -
We had no idea what to expect because this is his first driving job. He has spent the last 22 years on the army. We had no idea it would orientation then straight out on the road. Sorry if asking questions as offended you in some way. Thankfully some very nice people have been nice enough to give us the information. This is all new to us and being rude really doesn't help. Thanks anyway. -
Don't mind Chuckie... his truck talks to him!

I'd say it's up to you on how hard you want to run.jomar68 Thanks this. -
what isn't rude is to read a few training threads, get a general idea of what to expect, then ask questions about what you don't understand.silenteagle, LTC and YYZ Thank this.
