HELP!!! Tight Spaces

    Hello,
    I have been trucking for about a year and a half. I only have done flatbed and ran a dedicated route. I had a Pull through unload and it was pretty simple. I recently got a new job so i can be on first shift where i go out and load and bring it back to docks, Therefore i am going to have to dock multiple times a day in tight spaces.

    Does anyone have any tips on how to Dock my rig inbetween these tight spaces, or just docking in general as i have not done this since i went through roadmaster trucking school, its a little different when its just cones around you.

    Backing into tight spots is normal in the van business so all I can say is take it slow, and GOAL, Get Out And Look as you back up. The more you do it the easier it will get. Experience is the best teacher and in a few weeks you will develop your technique. Just be careful and go slow and check often, you will be fine.

    Best thing to do is not hit anything expensive. In that regard, you will learn to first be careful, second to get better following each back. "Teaching" to back in a forum is difficult at best. Hopefully you've picked up at least a few skills in 18 months so you should be able to pick it up quickly.

    I did local deliveries of sod for a landscaping company for a few months where i would go into housing developments and i would have to back down side roads and into job sites and stuff but never inbetween trailers or in any really tight areas

    Do not be afraid to ask anyone from the place you are backing in to spot you... get help... it just takes a little time... if you hit something early on it may take years to recover so go slow and soon you will be a pro where guys will asking you for help....
