Hell...I think this might be a better place for these questions...
I've searched around the site and couldn't find any shared experiences or information. So, I figured I would just ask because as they say....a closed mouth will never get fed! I would like to know if anyone has ever gone to Georgia Piedmont College (Lithonia, GA) to get their CDL License or if you know of someone that did; and how was your/their experience in school and with getting a job after. They have an 8 week course, at $1629.00 and if I have understood what I read correctly, they test on site...I won't have to got to a different site to get road tested! I think this is huge...for me anyway! Based on a comment made in a YouTube video, I know they have recruits that come out, but not a whole lot was said. I had considered going to a big company and getting trained, but something tells me I (me personally) will have a higher chance of success at a private or tech school. America's Driving Force in Conley, GA is on my radar also, but I like to be well informed of all my options, before I make a decision in anything. If you have any comments, advice or information about ADF, please share. I would appreciate it. Thank you!!
Any advice or information on Georgia Piedmont?

as I suggested on another post to go to a ga technical school.. well I searched and found tthis is a ga technical school.. my wifes uncle used to be an instructor at one of these and I know they have companies come in and offer the graduates on a continual basis, so I don't thik you would lack in job offers. the ga tech schools offer good programs. I know several young folks who have went to Sandersville, ga and the near Statesboro,ga and graduated there and landed jobs. I don't anyone who to piedmont but they have the same standard in place for all the tech schools in ga and seem to consistent with their programs.

Thanks. I couldn't figure out how to delete the question under New Drivers and I didn't try to delete until after I copied and posted this one...lesson learned, but anyway. Thanks for the tips. I have started submitting everything to attend the tech school. It doesn't start until May and I'm hoping I can hold out until then. I'm really ready to get started. I talked to the secretary in the department today and she said the 8 weeks is spent mostly in the truck, which I like, even thought I may get more training when I apply at bigger companies once I get my CDL. Another thing drawing me in, is the onsite testing and of course the low tuition! Thanks again for your response.

Have you filled out a FAFSA to apply for financial aid such as HOPE?
-
Yes. I do my financial aid every year, just in case I decide to get back in school for something, it's done. I've already received an email yesterday saying the schools have my information. I know I qualify for Pell, I need to do hope. Thanks for mentioning that!

Ensure your blood pressure and sugar levels are ok, even with medication. This is important for passing the DOT Physical.
-
Thanks Chinatown. It's funny you say that because I take BP meds and had been off for a minute. My BP was HIGH and since I have been back on the meds, it's been very good. I check it twice a day to make sure I'm good. I'm not sure about my sugar, never had a problem with it before, but I know things can change. I will have to get an at home kit and check it. If I stay on pace with my studying, I plan to take my DOT exam Friday and then go for my CDL permit the same day.
-
Your research paid off. That's a very good deal on a CDL school.
Yes, check that sugar. I take cinnamon capsules twice a day to help control my sugar level. Yours may be ok, but I need help to pass the DOT physical.
Best wishes on your new career. -
ok. I will have to remember that, in case I need the help with my sugar. Thanks for the best wishes and for all the information you continue to share with me.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Have you decided on the type of trucking you want? The best money for a fresh CDL graduate is tanker/hazmat; Schneider Bulk, SVTN, Superior Carriers, CTL Transportation.
For average pay look at Ozark Motor Lines; no NYC, no Canada, 100% no-touch freight. Trucks have APU's.
Watkins & Shepard is a good company with a terminal in Dalton. Big carpet hauling contract. Years ago I hauled some carpet out of there and it was driver no-touch; loaded by the carpet mill and unloaded by the customer with forklift.
