I remember delivering sod with a 45x96 tandem flatbed with a Donkey lift on the back and a GMC Astro COE. I could go anywhere with that setup with ease.
But unless I had dedicated accounts, I couldn't see any feasibility with that setup for general commodities freight hauling.
Do you really need to go 102" ?

Yeah, show up with a 96 when the asked for a 102 and they try and turn one pallet sideways and see how fast they say
Bye Bye".
What is changing for the better is most big carriers are going to spring ride. The newer ones. Ride the same as the air ride, no weight difference and reduces air bag replacement costs. -
How new does the trailer need to be to be considered "New spring technology" ? And does it really ride similar to airbag suspension? -

I have only been driving about a year, but from everything i have ever been told by O/O is 102" gets the load while a 96 will leave you on the load boards.
Just my two cents -
Why buy a shiny new knife to go to a gunfight?
LittleMissCabover Thanks this.
