Google Maps satellite view can help you find industrial areas where you can park... probably. Personally, I wish drivers would refuse to take freight NE of PA. After a couple days of driving to PA for everything I firmly believe they could find it in their hearts to create more truck parking.

Yep I just did the same thing in Pawtucket Wednesday night. Got there late, tight dock off a 2 lane and load assignment says no parking at customer. Knee deep snow with packed ice. Customer says he's short handed it may be awhile and I'm on a short clock. Talked to him a few minutes about the load and snow and casually mentioned my time issues and his staffing issues and since it was late if I could park there to reset my clock and be gone by 5am I would be in no hurry to get loaded. Deal. Worked for him worked for me. Many times it's all in how you approach the customer about it and your willingness to be flexible and work with them that will get you out of a bind up there. Then sometimes not lol but it's worked for me more times than it hasn't and I run up there a lot.

Keep your eyes peeled everywhere you run up there for potential parking. Abandoned warehouse lots, shopping centers where trucks are parked, some fast good joints have a few spots beside or behind them. You have to get creative sometimes and be sure and mark these spots on your gps when you find them.

Experience will ill be the best teacher in this instance though. Running nights and sleeping days really helps when you can work it out that way. You're just gonna have to run there awhile and you'll have your own secret gems like many of us do to save you when needed

What he said... Most of my career has been northeast. I became a vampire after six months of trying to find parking.

the northeast is a true 'trip planning' region.......

getting done at 9pm will give you a headache looking for parking........

If im going into the northeast from the midwest (lets say from Chicago to Providence)

I NEVER take I-80 anymore..I choose I-90 EVEN if i go into connecticut..

WHY? Because I-80 presents nothing by volume...Heavy volume of Irregular route fleet trucks bombarding every inch of asphalt and truckstop known to man...

I80 USED to be a good run into New Jersey and points beyond...NOT NO MORE... The exit 4 truckstop(ta) in columbia NJ used to have parking at any time day or night

you can thank truck volume that has grown over 50% in the last 20 years..Yes thats 50% more trucks on the road than there were in 1994....

    That is NOT good....

Well, I will consider myself lucky then. :) I even get a sack of petty cash so the tolls don't come out of pocket....

Thank you for all the good advice. I am wrapping up training this week and will be heading back into the Northeast by next weekend. I have no problem becoming a vampire I just hope my pick up and delivery times coincide with that sleep schedule (I am probably not that lucky LOL)

If you're talking about the one at Exit 38, I have parked for the night there numerous times and have never been bothered.

That's the one. That's cool, I stopped for some supplies and saw the signs for no truck parking or idling and towing enforsed... but have no experience with staying...just saw the signs. Thanks for the info!

Northeast???....yep..vampire trucking. Be prepared to spend some money on fuel like already posted or buy 25.00 in cigarettes which is like two packs in Connecticut. .lol...:)..I run strickly at nite everywhere. Youll find the drivers more courteous at nite to cause everyones not fighting for the same 100 feet of highway.
