I finally got on with Western. I leave tomorrow night for Nashville for orientation Sunday-Wednesday. Although I'm happy I'm still a little nervous because of people calling Western Express people scum, but I think I can handle it. Who knows, I might be a better driver than most that they have already. So I'm packed and have suggestions down, any other suggestions for what I should pack and what I should expect. Thank you all in advance for all of your help. If not for this website, I'd probably still be jobless and in the dark about everything. So thanks to ya'll again.
Congratulate me! I am now Western scum. lol

There are thousands of trucking companies in the USA and they are all scum if you believe everything you hear or read. Some people would complain if you hung them with a brand new rope. No company is perfect for every employee. You will do fine there, so best wishes in your new career.
bubbaray30 and Shaggy Thank this. -
thanks chinatown, i owe ya one. yea i just think it is funny about the way people talk about these companies. to hear most tell it, they are all scum. but i am willing to give them my all as they were nice enough to give me a chance to prove myself.

It's all about working hard and taking care of the family. As the old saying goes. "Don't sweat the small stuff." Maybe you can get a few of those West Coast runs. I love running I-40 and I-10 East Coast to West Coast.

yea that would be nice. i may end up in the northeast. hopefully not. but if so oh well, cant be too picky. just hope that new york city isnt as bad as what it looks like on tv. lol.

Years ago I worked for a company named "ExpressCo", in Nashville, which was a company founded by the same man that founded Western Express. I really liked the company, but it went bankrupt. Anyway, my worst run was to NYC, a five stop run, the last stop being out on Long Island. Most everything went West though. The best run was from Nashville to Burnaby, Canada with a boiler for a schools heating system, then dropped down to in Ft. Lewis, WA an Army truck going to Wilmington, NC.
The strangest run I had was commercial air conditioners from Nashville to Los Angeles for a new hospital being built. The security guard told me to park inside a huge dirt hole and wait for the crane to arrive at daylight. It was pitch black outside. About daylight, the lights started coming on in a condo complex right beside where I was parked & most had their shades open. It was a gay place and men wearing womens night clothes, hair in curlers, etc. The security guard came to get me and was laughing and said he didn't tell me about that place as a joke, wanted me to be surprised, which I was.Shaggy Thanks this. -
Congrats, I'll be there on the 21st myself..... What side you starting on van or flatbed (me- flatbed)
-
I want to know more about western express flatbed division...is it easy to do flatbed??
-
Just so you know as a heads up...Western Express is a HUGE DOT target. Seriously be prepared for multiple inspections at scale houses and make sure your truck is tip top every day and that if you flatbed your load is secured properly and looks awesome and PRAY. And be nice to the LADIES because this company has a reputation for harassment.
