Obviously not as complex as one would think.

There's also Step, Haliburton, Sanjel, Essential, CWC, and Schlumberger to name but a few more. All of these and the ones you have listed above have pro's and con's.

Are you looking for rotation, to be able to fly home on days off? If so, Calfrac, Sanjel, and Baker Hughes would be a preference for you.

I would get all the online application profiles set up, and update them with anything you add over the next few weeks. When it is closer to hiring time, apply for the specific jobs but don't be afraid of calling recruiters, hiring managers at local bases, and any other contacts you can find. You have the time, so pick up the phone. You can't be shy with this approach. Be willing to head west for a bout of face-2-face interviews too, to close a deal you might well have to get in front of a recruiter.

Good morning, this thread has been great, thanks for all the info, it has helped me land my 1st offer in AB. I'm talking with URS Flint (Vac truck) in Lloyminster. It's my first foray out there so I'm happy to get a foot in the door. Overall anyone got any comments on working for them? Thx in advance

i worked with Flint before merger.
A lot of good people that I worked with, but
if it's the same routine, hours are unpredictable.
Meaning, they varied a lot and it made it difficult to
have a life outside of oil. They were pretty cheap on equipment,
automatic kenworths were complete garbage. BUT...
its a good place to cut your teeth.
They weren't too willing to want to fix equipment and
    it gets a bit tiring.
Get your time in here, and then when you've got that
experience, find better. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the reply Sarabeara, scattered hours are ok, so long as I make enough to pay the bills while I get that precious 'experience'. Monthly room rents seem affordable enough. Was in Fort Mac for awhile and it's out of control there.

Once your out there start talking to the other outfits, they pay better than flint. But as was said. It's a start.
