Great info on this site/forum for Prime Inc., but anyone on here that drives for Prime flatbed division, would love to hear any info and advice you may have. I've been in and out of trucking a good portion of my life (approx. 20 years) but getting back into it full time next week. Please chime in with your thoughts and advice...

I thought Prime was mostly just for lease operators. Don't know why I thought that. Maybe it was from looking at their site.

I wish I could help, but I really don't know anything about Prime. All's I know is their trucks must be governed pretty low since I passed them regularly in PAM's trucks (64mph). I'm cleared for orientation this monday with a smaller flatbed outfit that is based in my area. I never ran a flatbed, but they're going to put me with a trainer following the completion of the week long orientation of course.

Pay is way better than PAM though. J.B. Hunt offered a slightly better pay but it was a 3 month out and paid week off ($800). So that's 4 paid week vacations a yr. They also offered a 14 on 2 off for slightly lower pay. Whereas the flatbed outfit boasts similar pay and home most weekends. I hear smaller outfits treat you better so I'm probably going to keep on course with this flatbed outfit. Good to know that if it falls through I can turn to J.B. Hunt though.

I think BTC may be a good flatbed outfit (Builders Transportation Company). I put in with them but they haven't called yet.

I know trucks are turned down, which is fine with me...I'm old and slow myself. Good luck to you...cheers.

Definitely, good luck to you too. Running 61-64 doesn't bother me either. In certain conditions it's better to run slower anyway. I have to admit though, I have a hot foot, and I've proven successful with it. I better wait till I get some more exp. before I try and open the road though. I have a clean record now, best to keep it that way huh.

Been working in oilfield hauling frac sand...trucks normally not turned down in oil patch, but bad stuff happens when you get in too big of a hurry for sure.
