They are having us wash a tank out in Geismer La exit 177 I-10 before loading one of our dedicated loads. From Mobile Al Its:

    1. I-10W and I-610W the whole way through New Orleans..... 179 miles

    2. I-12W to I-10E down to exit 177..... 194 miles

    3. I-12W to I-55S to I-10W..... 202 miles

This will be during morning rush hour. How bad does New Orleans back up during Rush hour? I ran option 2 this morning. It took about 3 hours and 20 minutes.

    2. The bad part of Baton Rouge is at the river bridge. You would miss all that. If you can avoid Nawlins, you avoid it.

It backs up pretty good on I-12 around Denham Springs as well. That was my thinking this morning. Hopefully we get our tankwash rebuilt sooner rather than later.

That bridge get's so bad come the rush hour. Avoid it at all costs. I know for a fact there is a bypass available about 10 miles north on a us-highway that will, technically speaking, take longer; but in rush hour- it'll likely be faster. 2 hours to go 20 miles. It's beyond tedious.

    Check your atlas.

Take route # 1. You do not even go into downtown New Orleans by cutting across I-610W. With the exception of an accident, traffic moves well across I-610W because you are going against the morning traffic going into NO.

You do not even go into Baton Rouge on your route through NO, so the river bridge there is irrelevant.

if this is morning rush hour, you will headed into new Orleans from the slidell way traffic will be murder on i10 and i610, the merge point of 610 and 10 is a real bad deal. option 3 while longer may be the quickest at that time of day.

my daughter lives in belle chasse south of new Orleans and comes picks me up at slidell when I come into town. my son in law works as a chef off 610 and it killer going by there morning or evening, even in a car

That tank wash in Geismer must be the one at the old Chemical Leaman terminal. Been a few years for me. Ditto what TomofTx said on the route. Is the tank wash in Mobile closed up? I cleaned out there a few times. There was a Qualawash in Luling I cleaned out at when I was loading at Witco in Algiers.

Prior to last August, I was taking a truck several nights a week from Houston, TX over to Gulfport, MS back to Slidell, LA, then down to 2 stops in Metairie, LA before heading back to Houston. I would normally leave Slidell about 6:30am and be in Metairie 37 miles away by 7:15am. Yes, there can be traffic down into the NO area, but like any big city, you won't be doing the speed limit unless you are going through there in the middle of the night. To me, 37 miles in about 45 minutes was the quickest route versus the alternative. If there was an accident on I-10W going into NO, I would take I-12W over to Mandeville, LA and go South over the Causeway bridge into Metairie. About 15 miles further, but worth it if I-10W is really messed up. My truck had a toll tag for the Causeway bridge. I had to go that way about 1 or 2 times a month.

The customer we load this product for has to approve the tankwash. I am washing out at Trimac.

Wysrob, I live in NOLA, and the easiest would be route 1. Coming into the city on 10W, the trafic backs up on the High Rise, the local name for the bridge over the Inner Harbor Navigation Channel. If you can hit the High Rise at 6:00-6:30, you should be good. Coming off the High Rise you will shortly come to 610W, take that and it will put you back on 10W in Metairie, on the western side of the city. From there at straight shot to the Geismar exit. In the Metairie, Kenner, LaPlace area there may slight congestion, but nothing serious. Off course, if there is an accident along this route, all bets are off.

And whoever is talking about the Mississippi bridge in Baton Rouge is way of base, none of those routes go near that bridge.
