Most company drivers are slaves to the company for 50 or 51 weeks out of 52 total at your average company. Typically it takes 10 years to get that 3rd week. Try asking for a couple of months off unpaid, or more, and see how that flies.

I'm getting around 1.54 per running mile ( mileage pay )
Pulling van ( companies van )

    I also get
    0.04 bonus
    0.06 Hazmat
    Paid plate
    Paid tolls
    Detention after 2

Not getting rich but doing pretty good can't complain to be honest . My philosophy is a guy can make $4.00 a mile and sit and wait on that next big 4.00 load lo r run steady and make a good living I by no means make 4.00 a mile but im.treated well and I make above avg for van for sure

    My current base is
    1.14
    0.40 ( fsg last wk)
    0.04 bonus
    0.06 Hazmat ( 70 % of the week )
    180 detention collected last week

My per mile avg last week not counting the plate I get free and permits was roughly
    1.645

Not a bad life for van

Your paying your self 48% of what the truck takes in???? That doesn't add up in my business, each his own...............

Many forget but owner operator has a bigger tax liability and spends a lot of time after the truck is shut down fixing, counting, looking for loads, etc. for free. Especially true for independent and old school folks.

So say someone knows their true costs ( for example the fact that the truck had 0 breakdowns throughout the year or the truck is paid off does not change how much goes to your maintenance and new equipment funds) and did net close to six figures last year but it's more like 80 after taxes . So he did make more but simply put in more hours.

You got that right, wrenching on the truck, spending money on tools, ect, ect, ect, unless you want to pay someone, I cant see that unless your in your 50s or 60s and been doing it your whole life.
