Is the next thread going to be, "what brokers pay the most and can I have their contacts, please" ?

only thing I can tell you is unless you have a dedicated deal with the reefer you aare going to miss out on loads because of weight. the place I worked at for several years stopped loading reefers because they could not scale legal with 46.000 lbs and that was the company rule. just something to consider.

With the truck I drive a 2010 Pornstar and a 53 ft Great Dane Dry Van, my mt weight is 33,900 with around 1/2 tanks or so, I pulled a 45,000 lb. load with 3/4 tanks of fuel and grossed 79,750 You would have to have a good set up to pull 46,000 lbs. with a 53 ft. dry van.....

Well.. I was told that with a reefer you can do both reefer loads and dry loads.. and with the reefer outfit I ran with did that.. we would haul a reefer load to Laredo and dry loads back.. but there was the added washout expense.. and we got turned away from a couple dry loads cause they did not like the way the reefer smelled.. even after a good washout..

It depends on what the dry load is.

A reefer will weigh more empty and has less space inside due to the insulation of the box so some dry loads will not go in a reefer trailer and many shippers refuse to try and load them.

Reefer should not be ran by anyone who does not know what they're doing in reefer hauling. That said, it looks like the answer to the question would lie in who you planned on working for, where your home was, what lanes do you want to run, what sort of broker contacts do you have. Reefers have a lot of upfront costs, maintenance costs, fuel costs, freight spoilage possibilities, and on and on. So if you're going to run reefer make sure you collect good money and deal with good shippers and brokers or you'll be broke inside of 3 months.

I pull a reefer for a company and if I ever go o/o I will sacrifice some pay in order to get a good night's sleep. I hate when the reefer cuts on at 4 AM and wakes me up. When I am empty or pulling a dry load I sleep like a baby and feel totally refreshed the next day when I wake up. When the refer cuts on and off all night I feel like I was half sleep for three hours until I have to drive again.

I think New Nash has sleep apnea. Reefer's rock. Who want's to haul 45,000 pound water loads anyway. Bet you get great fuel mileage. I've hauled everything in my reefer. Roll's of paper, illegal aliens, pot, coke, Wait back quiet.
