So these are the two companies I'm considering. I have read a lot of bad about Swift on this forum, but really haven't seen anything bad regarding CFI. Any thoughts would be appreciated greatly. I certainly don't want to make another bad choice as I did with the Blue screw.

No where is perfect, but CFI I would assume is night and day from Swift. When I got in the industry, CFI was very well respected. Con-Way has sense bought CFI and I have not heard anything much of how it is now. I guess that can be a good thing. They did not hire students before the buyout, they may now. I am not sure. They seem to be known for good equipment, safe practices, and good driver treatment. If I remember they have a decent payscale. This is all hear say however. I am sure others will way in. Make sure you read all the posts under CFI AND..... ConWay. Its the same company now. (Under the heading that this post is in)

Not all the trucks have been cut back. Truck load, is/was supposed to go to 65. But that may have changed with fuel prices as they are.

Conway trucks have always run 62.

I would advise the poster to go with CFI. Although I detest them. They would be 10 times better than Swift.

CFI has been hiring students for well over 2 years now. Even before the buyout.

Thanks for the replies, but I found out today I am not able to apply with Swift because it has been 45 days since I graduated. I tell you, I'm finding these policy's that some trucking companies have to be ridiculous!!:biggrin_25513:
USXpress told me that I cant get qualified by them because I was a student for Werner for several days. They said go with someone else and call them in 6 months!!:biggrin_25510:
This is such BS, maybe I picked the wrong career to pursue.

Check out WSE and MCT. Both have programs designed at folks just like you. I started at WSE and they did me just fine and trained me right. I am with MCT, the sister company now, and still happy.

Count your blessings for not being able to work at Swift, Werner, or US Xpress.
A guardian angel is watching over you.

Over on: class a drivers dot com (all one word), there is a list of some companies by state in the orange tab bar.
It gives their benefits and requirements.

Just be sure to bounce back here and get the no-BS low-down on them before committing.

CFI will hire 21 year olds. My son just got hired and is 21. However, I believe that you have to be hired within 30 days of completing school, so that may be a problem for you. It won't prevent you from being hired, but they may make you go to Crowder College for a period of time. You should give them a call and ask about it.
