I've seen many over time that look as if they had been banged into docks and whatever by drivers.it could very well have been knocked off. Don't see the big deal here assuming that the registration is on the trl. and that it matches the actual trailer. i have pulled containers/whatever trailers that had non-matching registrations.drive on and put your worries on something else.the company will have to pay any ticket that you possibly may receive.

oh.I just read that your experience level is < 1 year and now understand your concern.carry on driver.it'll be okay.just note it via that qualcom you have on board-

Id call the dispatcher call it in your trailer plate is missing. As well I would write plate # on a piece of cardboard as well. Get it back to the yard. Or get the company to allow you to get another one from registery office.

I did the cardboard thing and I called the company leasing the trailer to the company I'm working for. Since the company I'm working for is an entertainment company, they appreciated that I just handled it. They know less about trucking than I do! Lol! I will have this trailer till June... so that was why I was concerned. They are going to get a new plate and I'll get it within a week they said. Sounded like I wasn't the first one with this problem.
    Thanks ya'll for the advice.

Well, if your license plate is missing you need to get ahold of permits as being the plate is lost or stolen the registration you have now is no longer valid. And permits needs to send you a temp registration for trailer. Hate to tell you this but if you hadn't called and got a temp and get pulled over you will be placed out of service til you get temp registration and depending where you are at a fine of $150 plus

The reg and plate are both tied to the vin on the trailer, a missing plate doesn't make the trailer not registered.

That vin plate is different the plate it self is what is important if the plate is gone the registration is no longer valid as the plate would have to be considered lost and or stolen. Which means that a new plate would have to be ordered and when permits orders the new plate that won't come for a few days / weeks that new plate will not match up to the current registration and a temp registration is what is needed. I have dealt with this quite often and had to get quite of few temp registrations because the plate is gone or doesn't match the current registration with trailer and have had to remove both.

you all do what you want but I do what I feel is necessary for me to kma and calling permits for me the routine is the same as above.

All that they do is print another copy of your registration with a new license plate number, you don't actually get a new registration.

Ok, I get what's called a temporary registration of authority, then when new plates come in company will send non expiring registration with plates I don't know just going by what has been done here
