Although I don't have any advice or information on this company. You can search them in the search bar above and I'm sure plenty of information will come up.
caliboy91 Thanks this. -
Pay is now based on Swift's rate of pay. (I'm going through their training program right now) 25 cents per mile. Was 28 before with Central, but they lowered it for the transition in merging the two companies, and it will most likely remain as such, I don't think there'll be a happy medium to agree upon. I'm not sure but I heard rumors that current Central Drivers may have noticed a decrease in pay as well? Or did they mess with your wages?
Also new thing I just heard from our trainer today is that under Swift's new policy, you are not allowed to drive trucks home for your home time, you have to drop at nearest drop yard and bus your way back. He speculated it could just be rumor but they just had a new driver out of their branch with Central get in trouble for taking his truck home. I guess Swift chewed them out.caliboy91 Thanks this. -
Wow.. well i am currently waiting to here back from my fontana recruiter... i have one question. Since they are now abiding by swifts rules does that mean i will have to be 23 to go to school there. Im currently. 22

Would be one thing to ask your recruiter when she calls. Most of the Central people haven't been taught the new ways. So don't be too surprised if she or he doesn't quite know the answer. It sounds as if all these changes are just now hitting California's Central hubs or maybe even all of Central and everyone is sort of set back a couple notches on how they should proceed without stepping on Swift's toes.

I thought Swift now pays trainees by the hour, not the week?
Do some serious research, because they don't pay as much now.
And as Central is now owned by Swift...
And as Central drivers are very unhappy with the results of their transition...caliboy91 Thanks this. -
That's around 1/4 of the drivers.
Better to hire on with Swift so you will be with the parent company and have the best current information.
As well as Swift's DM's. They, at least, are sure where they are working next week.
As to stepping on Swift's toes, well, they stepped on their own toes this time.
It seems that they didn't prepare any of the Central people with any knowledge, and are just running everything from a bootstrap.caliboy91 Thanks this. -
I was wondering if i was to go to there school program and get cdl.. if i could opt out of the one year contract. And just pay the 3000 for the school but work for Schneider and get their tuition reimbursement.. either way all the schools near fontana want the money straight up.. but i dont have that type of money.. I know roadmaster school would finance me too but their price is crazy high 6500.... idk yet i will need to contact Schneider and ask if centrals school would be approved that way i could work for shnieder. Cuz i wanted to start with central. Refrigerated. But ever since the merger with swift i have been hearing alot of bad things...
-
You talk about being reimbursed, and again about paying 3 grand, and yet again about opting out of an obligation.
You are going in circles, it seems.
First of all, what is SO bad about a 1 year obligation to get your CDL training and a job?
You work it off for a year and then go to something better if you want.
I really hate this generation of people that think they don't have to work for what they want! -
Ok u probably misunderstood all im saying if i could get financed to go to school at central refrigerated. That would be great the school i heard is good and the price is not that bad.. im just not sure if central Refrigerated is the right place to work at now that they did the merger... i rather. Work for shnieder the pay is better and so is the company from what i see.. I dont mind working for what i want.. either way i would have too "work" to pay off my debt.. Even if i was to go to school with central refrigerated. And work for shnieder... i would still "work" to pay off my school debt.... and about the REIMBURSEMENT. Well big companies do offer new drivers benefits so they can lure them to work for them.. SO why Not take advantage if a company will help me pay for my school.. either way they are both good starter companies... Im just trying to look at my best options and be smart about it. but thank you for your negativity i really appreciate it..
