That is the case but these tree huggers have an extra trick they use. They say the better a diesel engine burns fuel efficiently, the more so called NOx emissions it creates...which is just stupid. Its all about money not the environment.

That is more than possible. With 45k i get low 9s on my 14.0l detroit.

The engines are better on fuel when you block off and delete the egr, exhaust manifold and freeflow muffler. Let the engines breath better they do well.

The tree huggers that wrote and passed the emission laws in 2004. that came into effect in 2007 and 2010, were a republican president and both houses.
Many of you do not remember driving along coming to a city and the big brown dome you drove into, also that smoke we all had coming out of our stacks caused a lot of children to have sever azma.
The engine manufacturers did scheme to bypass the emission laws after the engine was running for a while, the EPA caught them, and Ronald Reagan had them fined heavily and they had to reprogram all the units involved.
The electrification of a truck and trailer, the ABS and computer control could regulate the amount of power given to each wheel depending on tempature and traction, with every wheel powered there is much less chance of any one wheel spinning, and if it skips one inch the ABS would know and could cut power to that wheel for a second so it regains traction.
Solar cells are going down all the time, and the universities and governments all over the world are finding cheaper designs that are more efficient all the time.
Just a thought! -
This is actually true to an extent. Nox comes from higher peak flame temps which is related to efficiency. ###### the timing they lower nox but increase pm. So instead they introduced egr which dilutes the oxygen while still allowing a somewhat efficient burn. That's also why the 2010 engines do better because they reduce nox in the exhaust stream therefore allowing them to advance timing.

Congress and EPA are the same ??? If they would had let us get to 9 MPG as an industry avg , then today's technology would been ready . And not waste 10 years flushing hundreds of billions in wasted fuel and endless break downs. As my earlier post stated , part of my back ground was recycling ! But there is always a right and wrong way of doing things! Forcing technology on the market that was not ready for prime time was not the right way . Fuel mileage fell through the floor , helping drive up prices. And speed up the date we will run out .
