Go talk to a professional or do your research independent of this forum. Drivers are so biased against companies that they assume anything a company does is out to screw the driver ... Every answer here has some truths and some falsehoods. When it comes to tax planning there are pluses and minuses ... one persons plus is a another persons minus and vice versa. Every persons situation is unique and one size does not fit all.

But there is one truth. If the company doe not give you the option to accept or decline per diem, then I would back away. Getting per diem may not be in your best interest, only you can know that. And if getting per diem is in your best interest today, it doesn't mean that it will be in the future.
