Over the next week our snow tally outlook shows the potential for the snowiest end to February/beginning of March in over 25 years for the U.S. overall! 45% of the U.S. will be impacted by this storm. The models have been fairly consistent with this event and general timing so it looks to get very wintry the first few days of March from the Rockies to the Northeast. A widespread band of 4-12" this weekend into yet another Monday morning commute in the Northeast.

 

I was just speaking to 2 guys and they had just brought there truck they were taking there picture. They told me its not easy its like any other business

Hiya Krazyhorsechick, I am one of the biggest proponents of new drivers going company instead of lease. Let me however be the first to say you DO NOT have to explain yourself here. If you decided to go lease and are happy, I am happy for you. I am just glad to have TransAm drivers continuing to post to this thread, we can all learn from each other.

I think we will all be happier in life when we realize there is no "them", it is all only "us" together on this big, blue, lonely planet.

The only way to make any money by leasing a truck is to stay on the road, and live in the truck, and only come home for maybe 2 days per month. If you stay on the road, and buy your fuel as far below the national average price as you can, you can make some money. Don't be afraid to turn down a load going somewhere that fuel is more than the national average price for the week. If a load wont make you any money don't take it. Do your homework on fuel prices on the route you will be taking on your trip. Also don't get sick, because if the truck sets you will go into a hole that you cant get out of. Keep the wheels rolling, and keep the left door closed, and you, or anyone else can do ok with leasing. You will not get rich, but you can make some pocket money. Just my experience, and opinion.

that is 1614 miles@.89 for training and 1463 miles @.84 regular pay. Remember a whole bunch of factors affect your fuel mileage it is not as easy as those trainers on the yard make it sound and also they have to fill their logistic needs before they meet yours. Good luck to all you new drivers who lease but before you judge my check remember you have to deliver your loads and run with making payments. Ask anyone who has leased on here or is leasing now it is very easy to go negative and very hard to go positive once you go negative and it is not easy to stay positive but rule #1 is to go home very very little time

 

so in English jaso drove 3077 miles
his fixed weekly cost were $1109.93
after the fuel sur charge he still owed $540.09 for fuel
he was charged $2.55 to write 3 checks for transam
escrow accounts added up to $173.08




leaving him $881.21 before taxes and no benefits


company driver @$.30 = 923.10 before taxes

 

on another note my smiling face has been on the FB page for completing a lease 3 times

a 6 month lease no where near owning the truck
