From Day One - Abilene Motor Express (Richmond, Wytheville, VA)

Delivered a HP load in Erie, PA yesterday. One of my old stomping grounds, went to college up there. Man that place hasn't changed in over 25 years. Had a ####'s backhaul with hangars. At the house now for a Dr's appt in the morning. Sitting on a HP load for Long Island Sun 1100 del. Waaaayyy out on the Island. That's the area that I hate as you have to work your way around to get out there.

 

RC, didn't forget about ya. Been racking my brain for ya. I'll send ya the pics but I don't think my set up will work in the Volvo. Let's see if I can make this clear. For the Volvo I was going to make a box that fits in the section above the closet. Make a slide out hinged door. Like a door on an entertainment center that you open the slide back into itself like a pocket door. Then attach the mount to that hinged door section so the TV would be pushed in during movement and pulled out to view.

 

Same here 5 spees a delivered there once 8 years ago and have managered too avoid it since but I know driving for the green machine that its bound to happen sooner or later.

 

Had a very interesting start to my day. Headed south on the NJ turnpike around exit 5 a utility truck passes me and a metal cart goes flying out the back of the truck. Oh yeah, I'm doing 68 and he was doing at least 75. Guess the drag was too much for it. As this thing is flying, I'm hitting the shoulder praying it will bounce the other way. Nope. Thankfully the trailer I was dragging had a skirt on it or it would've been under my tandems. Which would've been worse for me, I'm sure. It bounced off the skirt and back over to the jersey wall. Definitely was awake after that.

Got to the yard and had my truck washed and went on the hunt for an mty so I can get on to the house. Only 1 on the whole yard. Bill was with a new hire for a road test and he found one, so waiting for him to get back so I can head out. Ready for a couple days off.

 

Yeah I took my road test before those guys. I think they had to wait on their drug screen to come back.

 

Good job on your quick reflexes. And had your truck washed. I thought we had to do it ourselves.
On second note I delivered to Boars Head in Brooklyn. All I can say is what a show it was. I went in the wrong way and had to go freestyling to turn around. And I got to this one street and I couldn't back up and I had to get people to move their cars... ####!!! Hahaha. But the main thing is I didn't mess anything up. Now after my break (Yes I get to take a 10 in this dogpen lot, praying I wake up in a few hours) I'm deadheading to Richmond. Hopefully I can get something good to keep me moving this weekend.

My appt is for 9pm. Good news is I pickup at the same customer as soon as they inload then they will load yhe head to colonial heights. Then will c what the rest of the weekend holds. By the way uturn Thanks so much for the directions you posted on abilene directions. It is right on and it is such less stressful when a driver has directions. Thank u abilene drivers for looking out for each other. RC glad it wasnt as bad as it could of been. By ur quick actions im sure u saved abilene thousands of dollars

 

Yes I heard you was at bh in Brooklyn. My buddy was there as you was pulling in. Some Thursdays & Friday there's a wash crew on the yard that washes trucks. I had mine washed Thursday usually arrive about 9am.
