i have 20+ yrs exp driving truck. i have 12 yrs flatbed , close to 10 yrs dry van , couple yrs doing transfers , bottom dump, enddump.
in 09 i was injuryed on the job, 4 1/2 yrs and 1, 3 vertabrete fusion surgury later , i have gotten my lic back and ready to go to work.
i now have phsyical limitations , i can still drive and drop trailers and all that , but i can no longer lump freight.

my question is , is there a good company out there that wont dismiss my all experience just to take advantage of it and hire me like a rookie.
i might be a lil rusty , but i can still drive a truck .

any help from guys and gals out there doing otr would be appreciated .

I would try a reefer company. No touch freight. But no one might not touch you, been years since you were behind the wheel.

I would think the best thing to do is call a couple companies that you know have a good rep and ask them. Never know, try a top of the line company, one you know you'd want to work for....what can they say? yes or no...or if you do this. They might want you to do a refresher course.

Your experience might be rusty, but you have experience.... just remind them of that. I know most of the app's that I filled out for my husband wanted 10 yr's, that's what I would put.... the time you had off plus at least 10 yr's, never hurts, might be over kill.

    Good luck.

Not only will you be put on rookie pay. Most will be scared to hire you because they may think you are to much a risk for workman's comp.

Try the intermodal companies such as Comtrak and others. That's just drop & hook.

Check Monster website. An example, I found a job there for Georgia driver that's 100% no-touch freight running West Coast turnarounds. Maybe something similar on there that would fit you.

You will need a refresher course; that's the way it is today. Plent of companies offer refresher such as Swift and Knight.
