I'm a company driver with Celadon right now because they called back first. I have expenses that need to be taken care of before I can transition into another vocation. At this point I just need a paycheck. It will be a few before I invest in anything else. Looking into welding. It will probably be a year and a half before I can make that move.

Why didn't you stay with Prime as a company driver?Lalito1234 and JimmyBones Thank this.
-
A lease driver that didn't complete their lease and was transferred to company is like a unicorn.
ive never, ever been pressured to go lease, but Prime will bend over backwards to get you in a lease truck the second you show interest. Losing money as a LO and wanting to move to company? I've met a few who have tried, and have never met anyone that was allowed to move by prime.
Complete the lease, then I don't imagine they'd have a problem moving a driver to company.Lalito1234 Thanks this. -
I have. You need a FM willing to say he wants you back.Ketchikan baby Thanks this.

Good luck with Celadon. Are you running region or all 48? The reason I ask is that I might run into you one day. Hope all is well and everyone have a safe trip.

As far as the leases go I know this is off subject but I have been wanting to give it a shot but I was looking at JCT. Have been talking to a few drivers just trying to get the nerve to make the jump.
As stated I know this is off topic but just wanted to know what to look out for. Sorry. -
Same things as anywhere else, but it's a huge crapshoot anywhere. What happens when you get a few years into it, and JCT decides it's time to pull the rug out from under you? If you can possibly wait, save the money and buy your truck you'll be much better off.
popcorn169 Thanks this. -
I went to Prime because I wanted to lease. As a company guy I want miles and home time. Mostly home time after the last year.
I don't want to be riding around fuming over my failed business venture either. Clean break was best for everyone.Ketchikan baby and Boy Howdey Thank this.
