Somebody needs to send the link to the police department so they know what happened. It is a crime to falsely report to the police.

Charges were dropped against the dispatcher in that case, only the driver went to jail...

Except that there is nothing to protect the driver from them continuing it or taking it out on them after the fact.

Like it said in an earlier post, what good are the laws that's doesn't stop whats happening in this industry. If Abe wanted to show those officers his video, they would have said no and went on.This is why these laws to protect drivers don't work. All that may happen to the company is get fined maybe a warning and that's about it.KB has a horrible safety rating and the 2 yrs I was there not one DOT audit. But many drivers got placed OOS for things.

It my opinion it comes down to putting on your big boy trucker pants. I don't need a law preventing dispatchers from pushing me. I know the law and if I'm tired I'm going to sleep. Push all you want. If someone tells you to jump off a bridge are you going to do it?

I agree but that also comes with a price. You refuse and look what happens you get threatened along with a service failure.Companies aren't going to follow all the laws in place,we all know that. But there should be law that drivers do not receive service failures for wanting to be safe.

Apparently many are not upset at the use of police to wake them up after a 45 minute nap either.

Dinomite: Your way of thinking is great for keeping company's thinking they can treat drivers like crap. Keep on doing it your way and keep looking for the Pom Pom's and band when you pull into the yard. And remember, the first time something goes bad they will cut you loose.

Now, please do not insinuate that I am lazy because I get paid by the hour. Actually I think it's a smart way to go. Very simple. I get paid for working, like normal people. E-log line 3+ line 4 x hourly rate=pay

Abe should get a service failure. He accepted the load and failed to deliver it. If he was so eager to record his dispatch the time to do it would have been while he was explaining that he could not accept the load due to two back to back 10 hour breaks. This way if dispatch still put the load on him he'd have proof that he informed them he couldn't safely deliver the load. Responsibility has to be accepted on both ends.
