The early 6.0s powerstroke had problems, the ones that are late 06, they perform well. My friend has an 06 f-350 with straight pipes and egr delete.
Anyone here have or had a Chevy or GMC 2500 ???

Yes I have had two Duramax trucks, 2003 and 2006. I pulled my fifth campers with them got 14-17 mpg under load. Got 21-22 mpg without camper. I had Bully dog reprogrammer on them used performance setting 429 hp 795 lbs torque. You will never get a 6 litter to perform like that.
-
I would like to get a Duramax, but there seems to be a lot of F350's around that are lightly used and cheaper. How is you Duramax holding up for you?

The 06 had 125K on it when I sold it. Never had any issues with either of them. Heard rumors of injector problems but not mine. If you ever buy one get a 2006 1/2 and newer. That when them started the 6 speed allison vs 5 speed, and the engine was redesigned, much better.

There is a reason they are cheaper.semi retired semi driver Thanks this.

Ive had a 04 chevy 2500. 6.o gas not worth a crap for towing suspension was junk transmission junk mpg very bad
I now run a 01 f350 7.3 the best truck I ever owned crossed scales at 37560lbs trip average 11.6mpg
If you want a truck to work buy a Ford
If you want a truck to ride good buy a chevy but dont expect a work horse
If yoh buy a dodge expect a new transmission every 50k miles if you pull heavy weight
Bottom line the best truck for hot shot is a 99-03 f350 7.3powerstroke. With a 35ft 10ton gooseneck trailer -
When doing towing in a pickup or auto the trans needs to be serviced more often, trans fluid starts to breakdown at around 24,000 mi's and on a tow vehicle it happens sooner.
The towers out there have had good results with Conklin or AmsOil synthetic trans fluid, its far better than regular trans fluid and lasts much longer.
On the 2500 pickups, the AC compressor and idler pulley are mounted on the bottom passenger side of the engine, they end up getting hit with dust and dirt which shortens the life of the components. -
As far as getting a new transmission every 50k miles in a Dodge, get one with an Aisin transmission in it. My 07 cab and chassis has over 500,000 miles on it and all I've done is change the fluid and filter on it. No problem with the 6.7 engine either.
