He's been gone about 3-4 weeks now. Not sure. Heard some rumors but nothing I'll repeat since I don't know the real facts. Haven't heard who's taking his place either.

i got caught in the tobacco loop all week. Farmville to Richmond/colonial heights to Tennessee to Kentucky to Farmville to Richmond to Tennessee to Kentucky to Farmville. would have been a good week except I had 24hrs of hurry up and wait time between loads wed night to fri morning. got in Friday night at 0058. only 2 more minutes and I'd have been screwed till Monday. that #### 1-5am thing annoys me more than anything in recent memory ever has.
pulled in to the petro in glade spring for my 30 and watched a usa trainer/student drop a trailer in the parking lot Wednesday morning.....and they didn't drop it a little either lol he hit the trun to the exit and when it came loose it slid a good 20-25ft on the landing gear on the pavement and left some good marks. wondered if they had done a swap and just not checked it or if they'd been there all night and gotten sabotaged. put my money on a swap and no pretrip and poor trainer. until I was coming home
picked up in e-town headed back to Farmville. stopped for 30 in corbin at the pilot before heading down 25 to 81. only one good place to stop between there and Morristown and getting late so figured I'd just stop there and run the rest of the way. backed in beside a us express and shut down. usx is on my left and a bobtail on my right. looked over as I stopped and gave the usual courteous nod to the guy beside me and started doing my paperwork catching up my trip sheets so I could go in and scan them. guy in the usx truck looked familiar but couldn't place him. you know how it feels when someone is looking at you and you can feel it? had that feeling and looked over and the guy is just staring me down from his seat. shrugged it off and went back to my paperwork. looked up again and he's still looking at me. felt like walking over and asking him what the #### he was looking at but didn't.
I know the guy. older fella, maybe he worked for us at some point? I don't know but I know I've seen him more than once or twice just can't place him and don't know his name but I've seen him somewhere a few times. almost must have worked for us at some point. not someone from my airport days any of those people I'd recognize immediately.
I get out and go take care of my scanning and do a few other things inside then walk back out. got a real uneasy feeling. my gut is almost never wrong and I do have enough street smarts to know when things just don't feel right in a given situation. about 8 or so trucks from my truck and I'm walking back down the lane and the old guy walks around from the right side of his truck, which is my driver's side. still staring at me and gets back in his truck and into the seat. thinking to myself he must have been doing a walk around and getting ready to go. I sit there looking at my route on the map through the mountains and he's still sitting there looking at me. now is the point where I'm not liking the situation given his odd behavior, coming back around from my side of his truck and he didn't go anywhere. get out to do my walk around as I always do anytime the truck stops. which he obviously didn't count on me doing.
got out and started down the right side like always and work my way around the driver's side. soon as I squat under the trailer to check the fifth wheel I can see immediately. the handle is all the way out. unlocked. that ####### POS sorry ####### pulled my 5th wheel while I was inside and I caught him coming back around the truck before he could get back in like nothing happened. now I don't have 100% proof beyond ANY doubt it was him, but it was him. I #### well know it. why else would he have been giving me such odd looks and staring me down and then come walking around my side front of his truck?
I fired it up, put it in reverse and got that solid click and then snatched on it hard and then got out and looked to confirm. then walked around the front of his truck with the look on my face and intent in my heart to snatch his door open and pull him to the pavement and teach him a little old school lesson. as I did he jumped out of the seat and into the back a pulled his curtain. I beat on his truck hard enough to dent it trying to get his ### out to confront him about it but he was hiding like a sissy and wouldn't come out. I still don't know who he is or why he would do something like that only that I know I HAVE seen him before on multiple occasions. if I'd had time I would have waited him out because he had to get back out of that truck at some point.....but I was already close on time to get home so I couldn't wait around to give him what he had coming.
he can be glad I'm much older and wiser now because had this been years ago in my youth I can promise you his truck wouldn't have moved for days. but, older and wiser two wrongs don't make a right and I wouldn't screw with someone's truck regardless the reason......handling it face to face man to man is another story though......I do have his truck number written down in my notebook and he best hope I never see him again and outside of his truck. I won't forget that face. that kind of conduct is unacceptable. maybe he had a beef with the company who knows. he best not cross paths with me again that's all I know.
only getting a short 34 at home then heading out tomorrow to Minooka. back into the snow. surely this has got to be about the end of it. I'm so ready for spring. really not thrilled with going out tomorrow but after sitting almost 24 waiting on appointments last week I need that 700 up there before cutoff..Last edited: Mar 1, 2014

That's one reason when I park I always set the trailer brakes and pull the tractor forward. I've never understood people that don't have anything better to do than to mess with other drivers. I'm glad you caught him and got his truck number. I've been doing the short trips this week and so far I've got 2400 miles. Picking up in Wilson going to Il. I'm thinking of holding that trip over to help cover HT.

I usually do to but didn't this time. At any rate I always do a walk around any time the truck stops. Caught some tires that ran flat that way. It's just good practice. Usually just a casual check if I just stop and only get out for that but always a little more in depth any time I walk away from the truck.

That's crazy. Some people just have too much time on their hands. Glad you caught it and things didn't get ugly.
48Packard Thanks this. -
Had a first Saturday , passed a young lady on I85 , had moved into the fast lane for move over law. Saw she was alone with a flat tire. Moved back over then pulled over and walked back to change it for her. She refused help ? I change 3 or 4 tires a year for motorist , not a big deal ! Never before had someone refuse! Oh well .

That is strange. It may have been more to that story on why she did not want your help. You really have to be careful in helping people unfourtuantly. Be safe.
