OK guy's. I need some help. For those of you who got grants for school, where did you seek them? I have been looking online but I don't think I'm looking in the right place's and I'm not really sure of how to go about getting one. I filled out for one at Diesel Driving Academy but I failed the assessment test and it was a one time thing. Any info and/or help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm completely stumped...

Have you called any of the big companies? Schneider, Werner, Smith Transport (PA) and CR England(not very good). A lot of them provide training and give you a job on top of that. I'm not real sure of any of them, they used to do that. It's been a long time since I've started. I have seen them all go through training phases. Good luck.

Drop on in at your states employment service. Especially where you're from.
There should be job retraining programs avaliable too you. -
Yea, I've checked in with Schnider but I'm pretty sure they are going to turn me down like everyone else has. Plus I hear that they have cut way back on hiring newbies. I was trying to go to the Louisiana state site but it's massivly screwed up and you can't read a thing on there. I doubt SNI will call so I'm looking for another alternitive.

Check your local community colleges, the one i went to was very reasonable and helped me with the grant.

The college's around here don't offer CDL training. The only school we have with anything close to truck's is diesel mechanic class' at the local Vocational school. We only have one training school here but I can't get a grant through them. I would have to get a grant on my own but I can't seem to make head's or tail's out of ALL the crap I have been steady reading through much less find an app. to try and apply for one. I'm still trying with company school's. I have the possibility of going through Driver Solutions but I don't have any upfront money to support myself during school and with the weather being the way it is, I'm spending even more time at home. With the way thing's are going I can't get caught up on bill's to save my life.

CRST offers driver training and a job upon completion. The terms end up being an 8 month contract to pay for the schooling. the starting pay isn't great. The main thing is to fullfill the contract, after that your experience gets you the job you want. All of the trucking companies make their money off of the drivers, exspecially the new ones. The jobs are what you make of them. If you hate it, you will be misserable. If you like it, you will enjoy it. It's up to you!

I thought about them but I've heard some bad thing's about them. On top of that, I don't like the equipment. As from what I am seeing from several year's ago, it look's like they have down sized a bit. Don't see very many of their trucks anymore. I'm going to shoot for Prime sense I'm hearing a lot of good thing's about them even though I've been one-on-one with their lease program which suck's, but the company driver bit sound's perddy #### good if I must say so myself.

DON'T do an online search. DUH! Get up and go to the office!!
I can look all day at my job services. They show nothing. BUT, if I go down to the office. They have it posted in plain site (on a HUGE bulletin board) for all to see.
I know in this day and age it's so much "faster/easier" to simply search online. But if it isn't posted, you never see it. Only people that are willing to PUT OUT will get the jobs and training. -
Thanks Dance. As I am without any wheel's majority of the time I'll try and check it out as soon as I can though. I am ver interested.
