So here i am again, ive decided that im gonna go to millis transfer school they seem to have some good equipment and good training. However i was only planning to do Otr for 2 years give or take, what should i get for when i get my solo truck? Obviously a truck gps, truck atlas, maybe a tv and refrigerator?
Also as another note I have pectus excavatum does this mean i cant drive a truck? According to DOT physical form i can for those who dont know it basically means i have a chest doformity and my chest caves in. I have 50% lung capacity and its fixable just not cheap.

Maybe get a DOT physical before you leave for Millis Transfer; that will indicate if you can pass Millis physical.
If something happens you don't make it at Millis, then go to CDL school, Goodwill Industries will pay for it, then go to Paschall Truck Lines. With Paschall you won't need a new physical; will accept your current card. All they will do is give a pee test.koncrete cowboy Thanks this. -
What you should get is up to what you want, what's important to you, and will use.
No need to get a truck GPS right away. A truckers atlas should do you fine. It's done drivers fine for years. TV? Eh... hold off till later. A laptop will get you better flexibility for the short term.
The most important thing for me(besides of course safety) is to be able to cook in the truck. I already have a laptop which I'll bringing and I can tether it through my phone to internets. Atlas is a given. I've purchased an electric water kettle and french press for coffee, oatmeal, ramen noodles, ect. Coming soon is a crock pot and electric skillet. As soon as I know how much room I will have to work with, I'll be getting a refrigerator. That's gonna be my start up. I'm gonna hold off on sirius, cb, gps, tv (in that order)until I've saved up some moneys. Your results may vary.
Oh. I'll second getting a DOT before starting anything. I know the local med express (urgent care)has them for $80 walk in. -

Get a good truck GPS and a CB plus Truck Atlas.Might want to scale the truck with full tank of fuel before you add all the appliances. Sam's Club is good place to stock up.One thing for navigation will not alway's work.Shipper's and reciever's don't alway's answer the phone, google is wrong or no wi-fi signal.

I only have the Bare Necessities. (Feel free to sing along if you remember the Disney cartoon). I have a flatscreen, microwave, refrigerator, laptop, tablet, scanner/printer/copier, Dashcam/ camera/ cell phone/ hotspot/ tool box step stool/ tools/ straps/ load locks/ spare fuses and bulbs/ mattress topper/ 8 pillows/ storage bins/ broom/ dust pan/ vacuum/ DVD player/ CB/ Bose bluetooth mini speaker/ and blue parrot headset, Garmin Dezl 760 GPS, Bose noise cancelling headset. And a trash can which is very special to me, I stole it from the prison I was locked up in. I just bought a pair of 20 foot jumper cables for $191.89 so someone better need a jump. And I do have a couple of map books around here and a magnifying glass to read it with.
You will also need snacks.
If the company fires me it will take me a month to clean out the truck.hillbillywilly and csw1818 Thank this. -
Hahaha. It sounds like it.

LOL They didn't notice their trash can missing?:smt043koncrete cowboy Thanks this. -
Theres a warrant out for an escaped trash can...
Add a dash cam to your list...but if YOU hit someone make sure you eat the sim card -
If you have a laptop you can forget the TV.
Just get a USB TV tuner for the computer.
