Panther used to haul the plastic dash frames for cars out of Columbia Mo. Those were decent loads headed to Youngstown oh and Detroit.

After complaining, we caught a little run from Iowa to Chicago and then another one to Miami. Leaping from the frying pan to the burner, I suspect. They refused to give an empty move to Atlanta from Miami. No layover either.

Are they trying to tell you something? Seriously.

Seems like it is past time to start looking elsewhere.

I didn't have a choice. We need money. If I say no, that's money I'm not making. Add, Mayfield Express also got in on the negotiations, so it's not just us. They were also denied. I don't understand how the First Out option isn't available to us, though. We are going to an uncommon area, we should be able to request it the way the other trucks are getting it. That's how we were knocked down the board in Denver. That doesn't even cost them money. It's just a lock on board position.

I thought they quit using 1st outs as a negotiating tool. When I was there they use them specifically as enticement for drivers to run "mini's". Yet, even if your already 1st on the board, if another truck is closer to that mini they can accept it and jump to 1st out. I always thought that was b.s. - I earned that 1 spot and unless I turn down a load that meets the acceptance criteria, I should retain it. You could of claimed "technical foul" due to not being offered that mini and gained your spot back. Also, if the relations team your assigned to isnt taking care of you - request another!

You have to learn how to use panther to your advantage. Talk to owners about how they get more out of them, Owners have the knowledge.

You don't have to sit where they tell you to sit, so figure out where a lot of the freight is coming from, I don't know about Panther but some companies will give you access to historic data which you can see what's going on around a location. I used MS Streets and trips and had put it zones where the best freight was at, even had a map with the best recurring customers and where to sit to get their freight.

There is no reason what you can't figure out in your rates (offer) how much it would take for you to move the truck to Atlanta from Miami and then make that part of the offer if they want you to go to a dead zone like Miami. You can sit north of there for a day, enjoy the sunshine and warm weather than head for Atlanta.

An empty move is an unpaid one, an paid move is what it is - paid. You can call it a relocation pay or what ever but ... you can decide where you need to go, not them. While that sounds good, learn how to negotiate and get that money into the offer so you have a cushion to move.

Panther I was told last night still has the deal where they take a percentage of the rate you get to handle the back end of a load you find. I would take advantage of this and learn how to book loads (even ones that just pay to move the truck) off of Get Loaded or some other load board.

Also a little secret for you guys that some of us used. When we have a fuel card, we never drained it but let accumulate a grand or more on it. Now this sounds like it can't be done as a driver but you can. When I needed to move somewhere and the company didn't pay, I used that money to make the move. It doesn't have to be a lot from each run, maybe 50 or 100 but it helped a lot when I would sit for a few days waiting for something.
