New driver starting orientation for May in about a week and was wondering what the average pay weekly after training is. I know they start new drivers at .30 a mile, just not sure what the miles are like. Thanks!
May pay!

P.S. I forgot to add that we never go home. Always on the road and that's the way we like it.

You guys doing full 48? -
If everyone at May never goes home, and likes it that way, I'd not fit in there. -
Do the solo OTR drivers run all 48 states? If so, is it possible for them to get really decent miles each week, (2500 miles to 3000 plus miles)?

Getting decent miles each week will be up to the driver. Once they get past the 6 month mark, most start to feel more comfortable in the rig, they get better with their trip plans, and they start to see how it will be possible to run 600 miles a day, which is the point at which the pay gets better.
The miles you mentioned is a realistic expectation but the carrier will have a bit of control over that. Some carriers have 15,000 drivers to keep busy. Not all them are going to be doing 2500/wk. They might get 1800.
Lots of variables, each driver learns along the way, and some will go for greener pastures after they get 2 yrs. experience (or sooner).
Sorry about the late response. I couldn't find my way back until tonight.Last edited: Mar 6, 2014
