This thread is for aspiring brokers to learn more about the numbers of a brokerage business. This will, hopefully, help motivate more professionals to consider this as a career. It can also be used as a gauge to compare one's own brokerage to another's. Please keep names and specifics vague, but open up with the numbers in your business. Thanks guys and gals!

I'd love to become a broker. I'm tired of working for my money and I can't run for congress. Where and when can I start.

And established broker will target getting 15% margin but will settle into the 10-13% range. I personally don't see that it is worth the risk and headaches as a stand alone business. For us, it is tied making sure that we can get more quality freight for our drivers and grow our business.
Shade_Tree, 281ric and rockyroad74 Thank this. -
I plead the 5th.

Oh come on, spill the beans. This isn't a Congressional hearing.
There are literally hundreds of posts by owner ops talking numbers. Why the big secret? -
It depends on what you want to do. Anything I say is wrong. My Tractor is too long, I don't have the right securement, my tires are to tall. to low/ to wide. Heart didn't mind when We pulled their trailer into the LA coliseum. I am out and about to feed my family. Costs a lot to do that. We get the scraps. Company drivers are learning. O/O's won't exist in a few more years.

I get 10 to 14% of the line haul!
