My truck will not shut off, has funny smell and unusual occurrences on the dash. Any

    dang put it in gear , hold the brake , and choke it down. did that many times on a mechanical cummins with the pump on manual

    K, batteries are bad . The smell hives that away. If you touch them then at least one is going to be warm. Thats a bad one. I`d replace all if they`re anymore than a year old. If you have a delco relmy 28si alternator take it off and put on a leece neville 110 555 . The delco overcharges and needs an external regulator installed which is more work that replacing the alt. Not shutting off , lift off fuse panel lid from top of passenger side dash . To the far right and towards the seat is two relays , they`re 4 prong. Get two from a dealer and replace. That usually fixes it . They`re only 5-10 bucks each. The next step if that didn`t fix it is to replace the ignition switch. Easy and cheap also . Its a pollack , takes no tools, cant be put in wrong , and is around 20 bucks.
