Company I haul for is from Callander and going to/from our yard on 11 I get to deal with them fuggers on a regular basis. MY GOD they don't teach good driving practices out of the NB school.

Like others have said, when you can tell a company you have 2-3 yrs safe driving exp, is ONLY after you've done such that..

It can't hurt to tell the employer and I'm sure it's something they would consider. Make sure you know what it is you're telling them. What you're telling them is that TTC claims their training is recognized by some insurers as being good and will be reflected in the rate they charge to insure you.

I don't know how many other training schools are recognized the same. I'm sure some are better in that regard and some are worse. But yes, the insurers do consider where you got your training when deciding what risk group you fall into. And no, that doesn't mean you tell the prospective employer you have a few years of safe driving under your belt.

I think steps have been taken to change things but there were stories not that long ago of 'schools' helping people get their AZ in Ontario by doing the Z part of the test on any vehicle and the A on a small truck and trailer. The insurance co's think that training in a real truck make less of a risk and set their rates accordingly.

Here is the claim from TTC

Check out the school out of Castlegar. And I'll check Alberta accreditation later.

WAAYYYY too vague, they need to state which insurance companies & which carriers consider the training worthy of 2-3 year safety record. I don't buy it for a minute. RUN the other way!

I wanted to put a newer driver locally on my truck with Berry & Smith but they say their insurance carrier will only accept graduates from some school in the Kootenays, not sure if it's the same one you're talking about.
