A: it's a preplan, but if you can't make it, then you can decline offer. I've never had to do it. I don't know why they call it that, that's just what the message reads when I receive it, subject: load offer. However, whenever I call to see what I'm doing next while I'm on a current load, most of the time they'll ask what I want to do. That's always nice. Once I get towards the end of the week it goes plan A: Portland for a reset, plan B: keep me rolling over the weekend.

I figured youd pick up board out of ABQ. When a buddy of mine worked there not too long ago, he said they would send him on the weekend or give him a nice long load that p/u the Friday and delivered Monday. Is that still true??? Also, he did a lot of board loads out of ABQ.
KHWeeble Kneeble Thanks this. -
So far it's been either home for the weekend or I picked up in Mesa on Friday this week and I'll deliver two stops in Napa Valley on Monday morning so I guess you could say that's still true. Only been doing 11 for a month or so now so I don't know if that's how it always works, but that seems like the smartest way to do it. They agree with me on the fact that it's much better to get that reset in at home, but if not plausible to keep rolling. Glad to see that verbally we are on the same page, now I just need consistent results.

Can i have your dispatcher train my dispatcher? LOLTractorman10-4, Rugerfan and Weeble Kneeble Thank this.

Now you went and done it, one of my bigger complaints. We dispatch by region except for the quad fleet. I would much rather have one dispatcher who knows exactly what I expect and need instead of talking to a different dispatcher every load (for the most part). My best dispatcher still resides at my previous employer, hands down.

Good thread going here. I've been reading up on it. I've been debating wether or not to apply, but good thing I have a chance to read up s bit about. Good job.
KF7WTV and Weeble Kneeble Thank this. -
I appreciate it, I think it's a great place to work, especially here out west. They do have their own quirks (what company doesn't?), but for the most part I'm quite content here. Any issue I've had has been taken care of with a quick phone call to whoever I need to speak too. If you do you're job properly and communicate your needs, you won't here a peep except for a load offer or the fleet wide message that goes out every weekday around 5-6.

A roll top can limit load choices sometimes, when I worked at COTC I pulled a 48ft flatbed and went into Canada, there was always plenty of freight for that. After you have been at COTC for awhile, the planners get to know how you like to run, the right loads for you will start coming without asking.
Weeble Kneeble Thanks this. -
No doubt about that. The drywall out of Albuquerque barely fit on there and that's more or less all you're gonna get out of there. One thing's for sure, they know I know how to use a phone to communicate. It's all about finding a rhythm.

Every time I loaded in Albuquerque it was sheet rock, the weight changes so much with that it was hard tell what your final weight would be, that where your roll top would be nice, not having to tarp the same load twice.
