Per corporate the next batch of T680's coming in will be 12 speed automatics. We will see how those work with he weight we haul.

More and more companies are going to be switching to automatics. I heard (just rumor) that Swift is going to be going automatic with new orders of trucks they get in the future.

    Why?

    (1) Automatics get better fuel mileage. This is the #1 reason.

    (2) Automatics are supposedly 'safer' and statistics say drivers in automatics get in fewer accidents because they can focus more on the road and traffic.

    (3) Driver comfort. It sure saves your leg when you are in Chicago traffic or going through one of these small towns.

    (4) Quicker and easier training of new drivers.

It's gonna be an automatic world. Just like Elogs, Drive cams, and everything else that has come to trucking automatics are coming too.

Baritone with millis going to automatics will that mean everyone going through training will train with automatics. I start training next month with millis. I Know in the state of GA if you take your test with an auto thats all your allowed to drive legally. I just want to make sure I can take my test with a manual transmission. I also like watching your you tube videos you seem like a cool dude.

All the training trucks are manual, you will be fine. And for the trainers that do end up with autos, they will find a way to get it done in a manual i am sure.

    Richmondk Thanks this.

We use 18 speed autos here with super doubles up to 160k lb gross. I think you'll be OK.

Wish they still did that. I'd keep this tractor if they gave it to me.
