I finally found a trucking forum!

I'm a 14 year experienced driver, who has always been a company driver. Now the questions I have are now related to being a Lease Operator.

I live in the Nashville, TN area. I drive OTR with a 06 Columbia. I drive for and am leased with Risinger Bros. Transfer. We haul from two major customers, mostly, and some broker action, meaning I get plenty of heavy loads.

I hope to find another company when my lease is up in March of 2015. I'm looking for a company that doesn't haul such heavy loads all the time. Idealistic? I may be. But I'm still hopeful that I might see that happen. I think I have found a company that might be like that. Only draw back is they require 3 weeks out and 1 week off.

    Any advice is appreciated.

Check with Cardinal Logistics. They have a terminal in Goodlettsville. Couple of more terminals in Tennessee also. I believe one example is you haul a load say from Goodlettsville to Knoxville and if you deadhead back the pay is the same, empty or loaded. They did have a setup where you can run local, regional, OTR and all loads you pick up away from the terminal are delivered back to the terminal. Their policies may have changed but you can ask.

    Thanks
AWG? I heard Cardinal took over the AWG terminal for grocery hauling......I worked there about 6 months driving under Great Wide for an O/o in his truck. I managed to get a speeding ticket that tossed me out of the safety requirements they had....not their fault. All mine....but I'm back down to acceptable tickets, or at least I only have 2 now. Striving to stay speed freak free, now. I had never been in that situation before. I only live 6 miles from Goodlettsville!

Yes, AWG. I went through orientation there for Greatwide but found a better job with a tanker outfit as a company driver. Made good money at AWG warehouse driving for YRC Logistics when they had the contract. Made $1000 - $1200 a week working there. I'm from that area and lived in Goodlettsville for a few years. Moved my residense to Nevada, 10 minutes from the Las Vegas strip; rough since I quit smoking, drinking, womanizing! Never been a gambler though!!

Maybe check with Quality Carriers if you want tanker work as an 0/0. Not sure where their terminals are. There's some terminals in KY but not sure about TN. I've not worked for them so can't really recommend the company.

Contact Farm2Fleet in Chattanooga. They might lease you on running some expedited freight. Never seen any negative comments about the company.
