I see some trucks with their own company names then assigned to a carrier, does this mean there is better tax write offs when doing this? Anyone currently doing this themselves? Looking into becoming a O/O I want to study and read everything I can. I have been driving 3 years clean MVR and DAC over 350k no accidents.

If you lease your truck to a carrier you must put the carrier information on your truck. see: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.aspx?reg=390.21

As an owner-operator, many also put their own name or their company name on the truck, which is fine, except then the carriers name and dot number must also have the words "operated by" so the dot and public can determine who is responsible for the insurance

Any tax benefits to this?
