Well I am finally here. I did not have a chance to start this when I got here, so, sorry for the delay.
It was not fun trying to get here. I was supposed to get on a bus out of Louisville at 0800 Sunday, to arrive in springmo at 2230. However, my bus had mechanical issues, they put me on a different bus leaving at 1000. When I got to Indianapolis my connecting bus was gone, and the next bus heading this way left at 2200 and put me in sringmo at 0700. I was not about to be late, so I had my wife pick me up and I drove here. I got in at 0300 and was able to squeeze in an hour nap before reveille.
The first day was hectic as can be expected. I was able to get my physical and interview done. After this mad house I came back to my room, did I mention I got my own room? Sweet... I played down for "a few minutes" and here I am eight hours later waiting for breakfast to open.
So far it has been so so but that can be expected of the first day... paperwork, hurry up and wait etc. Now to see what tomorrow holds! Did I mention I am extremely pumped about being here. Till tomorrow... 3's to yall

Glad you made it there. Anything worth doing takes sacrifice. Yours was, apparently, just getting there. LOL. Best of luck to you!

Well that's how I see it too. If that was the worst part, which so far it has been, I'm a happy man. I was concerned with the b.p. part but apparently I have that under control... so I am definitely happy about this so far.
Puppage Thanks this. -
Wow that's Dedication to getting a new job. BZ boss!!! and to your wife!!! don't be late to any meetings they take it seriously.HillJill Thanks this. -
That's what I've been told.

The first day is the worst the trick is you will have sim lab and computer work to do, get those done as quick as you can and that will give you a little more free time later in the week. Did you come in with a CDL or permit already? if so that takes a little pressure off cause you won't have to take the permit test. Surprised you got a room by yourself as I had heard it was pretty packed at the Campus Inn.

Now...... that's the attitude to have coming in! Going that extra length to make it work. Kudos to the wife, also. Appears you have some good support there, too.
Keep that same frame of mind and buckle down for next couple weeks & you'll do fine.
Welcome & glad to see you here. Best out to you.

I do not have my permit, however I have been studying for it for a couple weeks now. We do that today. I have been through all the tests on cristcdl and feel very confident going in. And the reason I got my own room is because they were completely full. The only room they had was one that hadn't been cleaned. So I told him I would take it with some clean sheets as I was only gonna get about an hour of sleep any way.

This is something I have wanted to do since I was knee high o
To a grasshopper. I wasn't gonna let the dirty dog stop me. O.l. was a little shaky when the idea was first brought up, but she is on board now, and when she has my back on something she has it all the way.HillJill Thanks this. -
Well day three is over. I now hold a Missouri cdl permit. Everything looks good on all fronts. I had a chance to talk to a few lease ops, both trainers and not as well as company drivers. I was able to gather some good info face to face. tomorrow we have the insurance and smith system classes and hopefully get id's and get time on the pad.
