Your antenna is likely under the plastic of your dashboard, right next to the windshield.

Thank you, I thought it was mine. I bought an upgraded antenna and mounted it on top of truck. But the problem still exists. Comes and goes. Some days it's great, other days it's sketchy. I was on the verge of buying a new radio, thinking maybe this one is screwing up. It hasn't mattered if I'm down south in Texas or NM or up in the NE or midwest.

Mounted my stick antenna on the top fairing bracket behind the sleeper. Took about 30' of cable (bought 2- 21' rolls from pilot, 2- female plugs, 1- double male union to splice the cables together. Ran cable under the truck with other lines to the firewall than cut a small slit in a rubber grommet and pushed cable through firewall into dash then up along side dash and across dash to my radio. Antenna only sticks above sleeper about an inch maybe 2 but pretty sure its still below trailer roof height. I now get perfect reception with no loss of signal since I installed it this way compared to on a perch mount on top if door or mirror

I just set up a new Peterbuilt straight truck and used the stock magnetic disc,on the windshield visor, and plugged to the auxiliary in the stereo, and I am very happy with it.
My old Kenworth was set up to use the radio stations, but in this area( Metro NYC) there are few unused frequencies,so it faded in and out a lot because the station in use had a stronger signal!
The auxiliary plug has worked great!
I get a loss of signal from time to time going through rock cuts or under thick pines, but not too much lately.
