I'm not the one w/a scooter. I was told that like a pick up, if you carry anything in the bed ( or on the deck/frame rails) you now have a commercial vehicle transporting whatever. You don't have to get truck plates for your pickup or van......just don't get caught with a roll of carpet pad in the back of Dad's truck that he was too cheap to buy truck plates on...like I did. Sqeeker had his camper shell on until the day I borrowed it Yu couldn't see in with the smoked glass..
As I remember, a "motor truck" is a semi, w/o a trailer, but hauling something...like a gas tanker with a pull trailer. NO 5th wheel, but it's hauling around the tank, or those "Droms" on the back of sleepers, & likely have some kind of product. I think a car hauler truck would be a motor truck. CHP drove me effing nuts. They'd write a citation for wrong plates...I'd go to DMV & they would issue a new one....CHP didn't like. I forget where we actually ended up. Motor truck I think. Probably didn't help that every time I came thru the scales...I was configured differently than the last time.

Kinky; front axle max on a straight truc is 18K#....semi was 12.5#. So....bobtailing w/ a forklift, I could go 18k# front ( if the tires would have been rated ). Any other combo reverted back to 12.5#. Hope I never get that bored with my job.

Maybe the smell is what keeps thieves away from his truck.

I feel for you big company guys. My company let's me use the truck for personal conveyance, wait scratch that. They encourage us to drop the trailer drive somewhere, get a good meal, see a show or visit nearby family. They figure if we have down time we should enjoy it. Best part is we are all paid hub miles. One perk of putting in your dues and finding a decent company to drive for.
