Sorry but I will politely disagree about McDonalds or any fast food joint that thinks they're doing us a favor by serving us junk. You can go on and on and argue the toss but IMHO, fast food is garbage in the main. You're better off making it yourself. Cheaper and better for you. The Macs of this world are greedy $$ grabbing corps who could care less about your health. They've been forced to offer so called healthy salads otherwise lose customers or users as they call us.
Kudos to the guys that recommend installing fridges. Great idea. I also have a deep freeze in my truck via a DC connection to the fuse box. Amazing what you can buy and store. Not cheap by any means but it saves you having to shop every 2 mins. I'm a big fan of Costco and parking the truck is easy to shop. Great fresh fruit selections and wholesome food to make.
The real secret of keeping the weight down is cut out the CARBS altogether, together with exercise. Carbs is the real culprit, not fat. But as I've said before in other posts, it's a very difficult lifestyle to maintain. Excess carbs are slowly killing us, way too much sugar in foods, so you have to be careful.
I bought my fridge and separate freezer from truckfridge.com. But there's others too.

Invest in a small Crock pot, you can cook beans,rice,roast,soup,stewed chicken,Steak,just about any thing you can cook at home...just set it up before you start driving for that day and when your at the shipper you can always stir it and add stuff if you need be,when you shut down you can have a nice hot meal.
Whatever is left put it in storage containers for next day lunch.
Microwave:you can cook eggs,sausage,grits or whatever you have that's microwaveable.
Freezer:you can store water,tea,juices,left overs,fresh fruits,vegetables,milk,meat poultry or whatever else you have to put in there.I stop at Walmart once a week and spend 125 bucks for me n the old lady.Look at how much I'm saving on food alone.
I let the old lady take care of all DAT and she does a good job.
I brought a jump rope and wheel pedal that I put n DA middle of my sleeper and use that on my reset.We lost more weight n a truck together than being at home...DA KEY TO THIS JOB IS PREPARATION..eat out maybe once a week ..or on a reset.
You can do it..JUST PREPARE

never tried the crock pot just since I dont like having to try to find a place to get my stuff washed. I have a crock pot going right now at home with a big corned beef brisket and you better believe I will be taking a bunch of that with me when I hit the road again tomorrow morning.
Sometimes I might cook with that butane stove though, tried offering some food one night to a driver who said it smelled good when walking by but when I told him what it was he just wrinkled his nose and left, I was making Okra and tomatoes with corn, im not a southern boy but man do I love some okra! -
The thing with refined carbs, not just sugar but pasta and bread, is they are very calorie dense. A high refined carb diet of bread and pasta is called a starvation diet because it packs the most calories with minimal resources.
The whole key losing and/or maintaining body weight is calories in vs. calories out. I won't recommend eating junk food and working your tail off to burn a 1000+ calorie value meal but you can do it.
Physiologically if you are on a reduced calorie diet for an extended period of time your body will go into starvation mode and cannibalize muscle tissue. Once a week I loosen up on my diet and get a few extra calories. Granted with the bypass surgery I can't saddle up to the buffet but I might have some fries or such.ttwjr32 Thanks this. -
A few options to washing your dishes..you can put them in a grocery bag and wash them out n DA truckstop when you shower,or you can do like i do wipe them out with napkins with cleansing wipes I also have a medium size plastic container I keep under my bed I use that as a sink with a gallon of water under my bed used for rinsing I keep about 5-6 gallons of water in my truck under .y bed ..keep in mind I don't cook as much and my appliances are small so its not your using 3-4 pots as if you were at home...a small crock pot n microwave goes aong way..like the other driver said...plastic cups,bowls,utensils go a long way in this industry..after I wash it out I have a small funnel I transfer the used water n empty water gallon..it averages about once a week I throw it away n DA truckstop dumpster when I fuel...it sounds like alot but its rely not that much work once you get a system its a piece of cake

You may find this to be easier than you think. When I started driving I actually lost 50 pounds over the course of my first 4 months. The secret is that prior to getting in the truck, I had easy access to unportioned food at any time of day. Once I got in the truck I found it incredibly easy to limit my portions and I lost a lot of weight very quickly. Daily I would eat 3 meals and tried to keep them between 400-600 calories, 2-200 calorie snacks in between, and sometimes dessert in the 200-300 calorie range. I ate lots of fresh fruit, and mostly stuck with meals that could be warmed in the microwave, or just required addition of hot water.

Avoid eating at the truck stops. You will spend as much as you did on cigarettes on food that is probably just as bad for you as smoking.
Get a slow cooker. There are 12v ones available but I'd probably just run an AC one off the inverter. I don't drive OTR but I work 15 hours a day so to avoid convenience, I cook a couple slow cookers full of food on the weekends and freeze them in serving size containers.
Avoid sodas.
Keep fruit and vegetables to snack on. Chew on some carrots. Good fiber, filling, low calorie and lots of vitamins.
Go for a jog. Doesn't need to be far or fast to have an effect.mje Thanks this. -
thats good, I lost 43 lbs within a few months myself, however I have maintained the same weight since then for awhile now and im going to try and get back on track. I picked up some atkins shakes for when I dont have time to make a meal which will be a start.
As someone said leave the sodas alone, I had a doctor once tell me if you drink an average of 3 cans of soda a day and dropped it to just 1 can you can lose a pound a week just right there.mje Thanks this. -
You can cut down on the sodas and junk(its still ok to have some) and just get a little more physical activity Just start by parking in the back of the truck stop and walking. Thats how I started!! When I do want a flavored drink I have some flavored hawaii punch packets(sugar free) that I will drink one once every other day. I love fruit and always have, love grapes(but I need to be near a rest area when i stop at night lol) and pears. You have to be committed and your first start is when you just get sick and tired of feeling sluggish, and tired all the time ..Has to be a lifestyle change ..

indeed activity is a must but there are a lot of lazy truckers out there, I like to park a bit further too which has helped me maintain my weight even though im not losing much anymore. Heck I was at a truck stop the other day where the farthest 3 pumps were open yet a driver chose the first pump and waited behind a truck then parked at the pump and went inside....
