I've been out here almost 8 years, same weight as when I started. I won't eat truck stop food unless it's Fast Food. I plan my trips so that I end up near a bar and grill. I have a great time and eat what I want . But I always park in the back row and walk.

    Hi
Before I go on my 2 weeks trip I prepare my meals at home
I have coleman electrical cooler and electrical box ,heater (flying J stores ,great heater)
I usually prepare 7 ,8 portions of fish and 8 portions of chicken .Fish is done with very light paneer and chicken a done at oven with spices etc
I'm using grains as a side or bake a potato in aluminium follie in the mentioned above box
Breakfast ,one avocado and radish one grapefruit ,herbal tee
my lunch ,dinner - fish and grain ,let say buckhart, salad mix ,walmart sell them ,
I have honey bee to have a spoon if I need something sweet ,for supper grapefruit ,one boiled egg or philadelphia cheese with confitures
I try to skip the last meal but is hard ,this is kind of end of the day happiness
I do exercise inside of the truck in winter ,one of the best is stand up and down ,50 times ,on the bed lying down foot against the wall and bed and down and up 50 times ,and on the floor frog running :)
If is not very cold I go for jogging ,some problems in US ,have to watch for pitbulls,People living at country side are not used to joggers ,dogs are on the loose
I'm 60 years, old 159 lbs and tall ,never had eaten in the truck stop,Mcdonald ,can food or anything has more the 3 percent of sodium
I have folding bike in my truck
I drive for 10 years and the long haul Van is the most unhealthy job as you can get .When you fly for 8 hours its recomend to walk aley but we, truck drivers seat for 11,12 hr daily for 2 weeks non stop
I had no chance to run only for 4 days (to much snow ) and my body was so different ,and if you don't have chance to exercise the future is not very bright
PS.I have an made in japan mini stove with gas bottles made in Norway ,I climbed mountains and traveled on bicycle around the world ,this is very helpful now to cook in the truck and clean plates
To make a cleaner for you plates put some dishwashing liquid in the bottle sprayer and mix with water ,use paper towels to dry it ,
    Any questions go for it

Getting out of the truck and exercising. Sometimes all I want to do is shut down and sleep but I gotta push myself to get out and do my laps around the truck, and exercises etc. Also I've started stocking up on healthier alternatives. Keep the fridge stocked, I also recently bought a plug-in cooler that I can keep strapped to the top bunk as extra cold storage. Vegetables, fruits, fresh foods that stuff.

thats great and all but im scared to eat food thats been prepared after so many days, fish I only give 3 days, chicken up to 4 depending how its made. I was an executive chef and took food safety serious and I have seen some nasty things in my career.
Now I will give fish a little extra time if it was frozen and never precooked, sometimes I will buy some frozen salmon and cook that in the truck in the 12v oven, you can get closer to 5 days on that.
I also dont trust those coleman coolers since they only reduce temp and they also have parts that break easy.

I lost about 20 lbs my first year back in trucking, as a "door swinger" (meaning I don't get a lot of exercise). I'm back to the same weight as when I graduated college decades ago.

For me the essence of losing weight was to GREATLY reduce my sugar intake and reduce overall carbs. A package of 5 whole wheat bagels will last a week for me. The BULK of what I eat now is fresh produce (hence no need for a freezer). My "go to" meal is a salad featuring non-lettuce items (fresh basil, Italian parsley, arugula, spring or herb mix, cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, avocado, bell pepper, etc. etc.). When I drive I have a almond butter sandwich, a banana, an apple, and some pecans. I don't drink sodas or fruit juices, but I do drink carrot juice (lower sugar content). For protein I'll have hard boiled eggs, canned mackerel, or canned chicken. If I can find plain kenaf or plain yogurt I'll also have a serving of that each day for the probiotics.

Do you remember the brand of fridge you bought? I've heard good things about Coleman. I use a Koolatron cooler, which keeps food 40º below ambient temperature. I've had it about 9 months and it's been great, and I've talked to a couple other truckers that use Koolatron products and they really like theirs.

    @silverdrifter

The Gorilla Strength bands, I got the beast kit, have O rings on the ends. What I did was use a caribiner and 2" O ring that are hooked into the bunk net attachments on the back of the sleeper. I have another 2" ring up at the upper bunk buckle, the one that holds it stowed up. I run the bands through the ring and clip to the opposite caribiner. This shortens the band different movements. I also have a rigid mounted passenger seat so I use the frame as well.

You just have to be creative and use what's available to you advantage.

I'll try and take some pix and post in my profile.

I lost 30 pounds since January just by switching from daytime running to nights. I stopped and had a few beers every night on my way home with food with my day schedule.
Nothing is open in the mornings on my way home so now I just go home and watch TV until I sleep. I exercise less now and lose weight. go figure.
