Ok, I wouldn't mind and ELD or EOBR whatever they are referred to as but, they need to do something about the hours, scale back to an 8 hour break at least.

It seems to work out OK for those who run east to west or can do drop n hook or even stay out for weeks at a time. But I don't do any of that and an ELD/EOBR is detrimental to my business...

Technically you are supposed to remain on duty not driving when making a delivery or fueling because you are still responsible for the security of the truck and load.

I like how it used to be when I first started driving. You could split the 10 hour driving by using the split sleeper option. 5 hours driving 4 hours sleeper so on and so forth. I got more sleep then than when a 14 hour clock was added into the mix. I recall drivers having less accidents then than now.

I remember when this BS first started. All the old hands remember. It was when they started the CDL. Remember we had to give up our 2nd or third license.
It was going to get the bad drivers off the road. Seems to me, there are still a lot of bad drivers out there

Yes, some stops requires a minimum of on-duty time for those you mentioned. But every company requires different times, I didn't want to confuse the issue.

Actually, there are more bad drivers than when they got rid of the chauffeurs licenses. Now, anyone can drive a vehicle the same size of a CMV (or larger), as long as it is not licensed for commercial use.

I remember when my dad had to swap them for CDLs or surrender his privileges.

In that case a driver needs to be on-duty 24/7, because they are always responsible for their truck and/or load. That is why there is insurance. That load and/or truck can be replaced the driver cannot.

I am not saying be a neglectful or irresponsible driver.

The 70/8 rule is killing me. Nothing like limping along due to lack of recap hours. I can run a strong 10 days, then have to hit the brakes when I only gain 6 hrs back. But the elogs arent really the problem - its the way we're paid. I bet if we insisted on HOURLY PAY instead of mileage, that ##### in Washington (Ferro) would climb out of Bill Graves bed and come to her senses. Saftey my ###. It all comes down to the mighty dollar...

dont believe me? have that load disappear when i am "off duty" or in the sleeper, and lets see how far that excuse flies
