okay so I Drive for a guy that owns a truck that he has least on to FedEx custom critical. I just started today my question is if he's paying me 30 percent of each load after fuel how would I go about figuring that out exactly? like what formula would I use? for instance if fedex is pain $600 for a 500 mile runwhich includes any dead heading mileshow would I figure outwhat I make if he's paying me 30 percent after fuel? If there's any more information y'all need to give me an answer please let me know and I'll do the best I can to provide any information I can

Get the mpg off truck if 6 miles a gallon $4 a gallon that's .67 per mile so your example $600 for 500 miles is .67x500=$335 in fuel you have $265 left 30% of that would pay you $79.50

You're getting beat as fuel is a major expense. Most drivers get 24-25% off the gross.

    Let's just say a 500 mile run pays $1000 at 25%. That's $250 in your pocket.

Your way it takes $335 in fuel = $665 which you get 30% or $199.50. Almost a 20% difference. There's a hole in your pocket and he's walking behind you. :)

Plus he gets a fuel surcharge and I bet he doesn't add that into the equation.

I figure about $94 or almost 19 cpm for 500 miles for 7 mpg. A company driver at 30 cpm would earn $150. Don't run that hot freight for 19 cpm.

most ads around here if they are paying the driver after fuel its usually a 50/50 split if he's paying you before fuel it should be between 20% and 30% . Paying you 30% after fuel is just way to low in my opinion don't sound right

The norm in the expedite business is a 60/40 split of the line haul with the person paying for fuel getting both the 60% AND 100% of the fuel surcharge with the driver getting 100% of the accessorial fees for the work they do.

30% after fuel? he's ripping you off. YOU should end up with at least 40% of the line haul.

I would consider leaving him asap.

By the way you can ask dispatch to break down the load rate so you can see what the fsc and other fees are.

Your Iust spinning your wheels there. FredEx ground don't pay the owners enough when they drive the truck. You are just option B and option C is more than likely chapter 7. Don't get me wrong. I like FredEx ground. They bring my online orders to my doorstep with free shipping or a minimal charge. There's good reason for that.

They are correct man.....and to all other drivers. Never take a deal where fuel costs are involved. You're the driver and the owners fuel costs are none of your business.

Op: do what you need to but I'd be out of there ASAP. Its a bad deal for you.....
