Safety guy said they had about close to 10 rollovers for the month of January. Can't imagine, that is a high #.

Maybe the fuel tanks are too big for the truck? That can make it roll over, you know....

Laugh all you want, that was an excuse I heard from someone for running out of fuel at the gate to the yard a while ago.... -
Well I hope it gets better one day if don't ill b gone

I was a student but they #### near did the same thing to me. I was with a trainer for a month and then went to recover a truck. The truck had a crack across the windshield, IFTA was expired, oil leak, and the trailer was so screwed that I couldn't put straps where I wanted them. I reported it all in the Qualcomm and the DM said he was going to route through Nashville to get it taken care of. Then he sent me straight into the Bronx with a load. Coming out of the Bronx i went to staton island to pick up one of those nasty trash loads you spoke of going to Ohio. Anyway I ran around for about three weeks all jacked up before they got me to Nashville. Then I got an oversized load going to Higden AR. They sent me TN permit so when I got to the weigh station on 40 I got shut down because I didn't have the AR permit. The sent the permit and it said I-55 so I got wrote up for out of route. Well now I was stuck and needed I40 permit. They sent the wrong permit three times. It took the DOT officer to call them to get the correct permit. And he got it because he made them transfer him directly to the permit department. My whole time there I saw one $400 check. The rest were under that. When I quit I brought the truck back to them and they charged me out of route miles for when I brought the truck back. They are ate up.

So if you're flatbedding and you go with a trainer, you're guaranteed to be paid $120 a week for AT LEAST a month? $120....? No thanks, I'd rather work at my local Burger King and make 4-500 a week working 8 hour days.
-
$120/wk?? I thought if you went out with a trainer it was $375/wk
anyway....... if you're a student with a clean mvr and no felonies... there ARE better places to go! where are you from?Dc16vfd Thanks this. -
" Flatbedders have 3 more days of load securement training. If you are assigned to a trainer you will be doing the same work as the trainer for $120.00 a week for 1 month or when the trainer clears you. Mandatory month though. The trainer will get paid for the miles YOU drive.
That's what I got from TCs OP.
Anyways I'm from Maryland, 21 years old. I got my CDL back in June after trucking school but have not used it since ( no experience ). I got a non-driving job shortly after getting my CDL, I have recently got laid off of the job but now I'm not sure if I want to pursue a trucking career. When I was in school I was sure I wanted to drive, but after learning about the crap pay for the amount of time spent away from home, I just don't think it's worth it. I was making nearly $600 a week at a production plant making/packing plastic containers. When I was in school I got brainwashed by people telling me how much money you could make in trucking right out of the gate.Alberdi Thanks this. -
Listen kid (no disrespect intended) DON'T let anyone tell you that you have to go OTR to make a decent living.... do whatever you want (drive/don't drive) but i think you owe it to yourself to TRY it out....here's the thing, you MAY need to do a refresher course- if so- I would contact the school you went to and talk to them and see what they can do for you- from there, i would contact sysco, us foods, and the fed ex's, and other LTL's and find something where you are home every night...... some will say you need to "pay your dues" (and go OTR) but that's simply not true....... If you can get on with one of the food service companies were talking $60-75k+ (depending on location) and $50k plus at most LTL's..... give it a fair shot before you decide to close the door on it........... great thing is, as long as you dont give it up (your CDL) nobody will take it from you.
Im not here to brainwash you- I will say this, I have 2 friends that grossed $98k, and $102k respectively their first years working for sysco (i wish i would have followed them over there but that's another story) point is there IS money to be made out there with your license, you just have to do your due diligence and look.
Good Luck to you
(sure wish I would have gotten my CDL at 21 years old
)
