Traffic is very congested, more so during bear, wolf and buffalo jams. ( Yellowstone version of traffic jams, when wild life is spotted.)

Yes you can run the very northwest corner of the park. US20 out of Idaho, into west Yellowstone, turn north onto US191. Two lane road to Belgrade,MT ((Bozeman), you follow the Gallentan River,( take the fly rod, some of the best fishing in the country here) curvy narrow. Keep you eyes open for wild life, bear elk, wolf. Large pull out(yes you can sleep there) on the north end, where you leave the park, stop and get a picture or two.
I grew up in eastern Idaho, this was part of my 'back yard'.

thanks maybe I looked at my atlas wrong, I didn't see any signs that said no trucks, but it was snowing like crazy, couldn't see much anyway, its good to know, wish I could of known before I listened to the company and went up their just to turn around and go threw Idaho, not a bad drive at all, I just ran on the million dollar hiway here in Colorado, nice drive but very bad road. thanks for the info.

I should have asked. 191 south of Bozeman you run through a section of the park.

ya I ran threw the west yellow stone I think it was called, nice drive just don't see why the company routed me threw the park if I cant go. guess I should look at my atlas better.

had a load heading up to Montana from Denver, the company told me to run threw yellow stone, got all the way up their to be told the road was closed for winter and had to go threw Idaho, 50 miles in the direction I just came from, also noticed their was a toll booth, my question is can I run threw their when the road is open? and how much is the toll to do so? I dont understand way you would want to run up that way this time of year. When you are in Denver at the 25 going north that will bring you right in to Montana with no tolls or park entrance. oh and not to say all highway driving.

Nothing wrong with running US 191 , no tolls. Just lots of awesome scenery and it's shorter

Forgot to mention that sometimes you can't see the scenery because the snow is piled up taller than the truck.....

Just a note

US-191 from US-26 in WY north to Montana is not a STAA highway.
